Yesterday's Enterprise, @ 1:350th scale

I know this isn't a Sci Fi modeling subject but it's got great technique for making an accurate model. FORD GT 40 1/8
OK. It's in French but the OP does such a great job of photographing each step that you don't really need to read French.

merci beaucoup!!!

On a good day, I hate car models. But that build is really cool. A lot of really good ideas, and I would KILL for his drafting table and Lathe! :D

BUP bu-da-da-bup bup-pa-BAHHHHHH!!!!!!:)

I have begun. I got a decent head-start for tomorrow. I still need a few things like a card-board dowel to be able to put it all together to get it ready to glass... but I went to the local Hobby shop, bought a few necessities, (no, not toilet paper), and I have got the ball rolling. But enough talk! What you guys want are pictures:

This is the whole taco, printed to scale. If you can't tell the difference between this print and the old one, it's because there is only an inch difference. She is longer, now! :)

After using a fine-tipped sharpie and a piece of clear plastic stencil sheet to out-line 1/2 of the hull, I carefully cut out the stencil and applied it to a sheet of 5mm foam board.

The bottom one is the stencil, and the top one is the trace. (notice the measurement, around 18 1/2"...and that is only HALF!!! :) )

Tomorrow's task will be to locate a small card-board dowel for the center of the hull, and cut out a bunch of siluettes to glue to the dowel to create a 3-D sub-structure that I can then skin and glass. Thanks for looking! :)

Dr. Freud's ideas about the male preoccupation with size might be of particular interest here. :$

Joking.

That is one of my favorite jabs from Titanic. :) You know, Titanic is my wife's and my favorite love story. We saw it together at the theater, on our very first date... 15 years ago. :) Thank-you for reminding me of it. It was agreat date! :)

* QUICK UP-DATE* On some good advise, I decided to scrap the foam idea and went with birch-wood, instead. Please be patient with me. It will take longer to cut out the birch panels than the foam would have taken, obviously. But the end result will be a stronger primary, and a more accurate mold. I think that is worth the wait, don't you?!? :) Okey-dokey, then! I'm gonna roll up my sleeves and get out the jig-saw, and I hope to see y'all this weekend.

Waiting patiently on some build pics.
On another note just to let you know that the COKE can is Trademarked by Richard Long!!

You MUST use a PEPSI or a Mt Dew can!!! :lol

That's cute! :) Funny story: I actually googled Richard Long before I realized you were joking... I'll have some pics up in a few days. I need time to get the birch all cut up and glued back together, take some pics along the way, ect.
[PS- If the world ends tomorrow, disregard this message. :lol]

This sort of thing makes me wish that all of these 1:350 parts were just outright kitted out so we could do the insane custom kitbashes and obscure variants in uber-massive-huge-deluxe-royale-with-cheese scale.

That's funny right there, I don't care who you are!!! :lol

We know Richard as REL here on the board!

Before I realized.............joking...........:lol

I don't worry about stuff like that. What else is there to do while you wait? This IS a social forum... what better way to get to know your peers than to converse. TITANIC isn't one of my favorite movies, and I only say that here because my wife will never read this, but I love her; and she sat thrue the re-lease of the original Star Wars trilogy, The Lord of The Rings trilogy, and the 3-D IMAX release of SW episode:1 with me, so I can't complain. :) AND, when I won tickets to the SW: Revenge of the Sith premier, she waited in line for three hours until I could get off work and join her. She is the bomb! :love

To me a great date ends with some undercover scrimmage where there isn't a penalty for holding!!!

I liked Titanic myself, good movie!
