Yesterday's Enterprise, @ 1:350th scale

OK, so here we go! I started this thread up because I am ready to begin construction of the NCC-1701-C, USS Enterprise at 1:350th scale. All of your help and resources you could offer me on this journey would be gratefully appreciated!

*** This bad boy is hold. If you are new to the thread, I will warn you that I had to scrap what I built in loo of a better building process. I will be able to start fresh in a few weeks, at which time I will modify this heading to indicate. Otherwise, please read on. There are some good ideas from other members, and a few good ideas and bad mistakes on my part... but no ship, yet! :p***

Reading further in the article :
"The model came in at 41.19×26 inches in length and was constructed out of glass fiber reinforced cast resin with styrene details."

Great article ! Very interesting, I wish we had some kind of articles relating the building of Star Wars stuff ! :D
 
Thanks for the comments, so far. I am really happy to see an interest in this build, already... Yeah, this ship is gonna be a big one. She will be 4.93ft. in overall length when she is finished I really hope to land the original prints in the next couple of days. I am fishin like a true sinner! This would be a fair comparison, and if you take into account what size the 1701-A is at 1:350th scale, it'll give you some idea as to what to expect

:confused Um... I chose THIS forum because of the scale of the build. It will be a lot closer to studio scale when it is finished, than market scale, so-o-o-o...

You will never guess who left me a message about the Enterprise-c... Rick Sternbach!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is still racing! OMFG. That, to me, is like meeting a famous actor! He said the prints I had, from the amt model were gonna be my best bet, because the SS model was built off the consept drawing, and the drawing, itslef is incomplete, so it would only be mis-leading. So that is it, then. The final light is green, and this bizzel is gettin dizzle!!! :lol
 
That's great! Very good news. This is a very active website with lot's of very experienced professionals and amateurs. Hopefully you'll get even more support from this invaluable community.
 
Sternbach is the best. An iconic artist, and a true visionary...Yet, totally accessible. Just a very cool guy, too.

This is going to be one fun thread to watch..Can't wait to see your progress!
 
It should be in general modeling as it; as you said, is not studio scale but bigger than studio scale. No biggie (well in the case of your model perhaps it is, lol).

In any case looking forward to seeing your build.
 
Cadeus, the SS section is for models that are the same size as the filming miniature. That section isn't just for "big" models, it's very specific.

Looking forward to your build as well.
 
Thanks for the comforting remarks, guys, but I promise I am not upset. I DO realize why my thread was moved and I am cool with it. I think I was trying to be a little silly, but I am almost 37 years old; I never got the hang of text-talking. :darnkids I think this thing is gonna move a little slower than I had hoped, but it is moving. I am in the process of converting all the measurements I need to 1:350th scale... I think that is actually going to be the hardest part... But I am getting really excited! The more I look at the C, the more I realize that this bird ought to have had a much greater cameo. She is beautiful, and strong. She definitely deserved to have her shot at the name, Enterprise!
 
Saw your post on SSM and am looking forward to following this thread. I agree wholeheartedly eith you that the C is a beautiful ship and needs to be done some justice. 1:350 scale is an enormous task to set for yourself; literally; and I applaud your effort. I can't wait to see some progress.
 
Thank-you! I am currently doing all the calculations I need to do in order to draw her at the correct scale. Once I have her at scale, I can use the drawings to make my skeleton. It's an old trick I learned 25 years ago in shop-class. :) Thank you all for being patient. Once the prints are drawn, I should be able to spit out progress pics on a regular bases.
 
Whilst we all wait, shall we have a civil discussion of the primary hull? Very good, then... I will have the drawings finished this weekend, on schedule, and my first task will be the primary hull. It is a beautiful hull, in it's simplicity, and yet I would like some opinion over the "grid-lines" covering the hull... I have accumulated a lot of reference material, and I have seen both raised and lowered lines. And on the SS model close-ups it is hard to tell, as well, because the lines could be raised, or the edges could just be displaced from scoring the lines with a hot-knife. Only the sculptor would know for sure, and I haven't been able to get a hold of him. S I am relying on you, my good friends, to help me in my quest for knowledge! Thanks for looking. ( And I am sorry there are no new pics. I know some of you are like me, and you hunger for new up-dates on your subscriptions...)
