Yes I know... another IRON MAN helmet (pic heavy... now with better pics)

hello everyone, did this sculpt of the Iron Man mark III a bit before i joined the RPF so sorry i dont have any WIP pics. I Do have before cast, and after molded pics.

I know everyone has there Iron Man helmet up here, but having been through the helmet making process before i thought I'd do a different route. I made the face plate separate from the helm so they would fit together more cleanly and there was less dremmeling after i made resin copy. This helmet was modified from an earlier version i made, but i used the original sculpt as a base. The original was a one piece helm that was like 10 lbs, and had multiple techniques thrown into the creating process... Bondo, cardboard, hot glue, hard oil based clay. Wasn't pep though, I never seemed to get the hang of paper gluing.

I hope you guys like what i made, feel free to add a comment or opinion (as long as its tasteful).

Looking great, you should take some pics with it on and from other angles to really show it off!

You painted the grooves?

I like the outcome but that black in the grooves really throws me off. Would look cool if you had inked it instead. But as said, great build and welcome to the RPF community.

Thats looking great man!

Though you may have to forgive me for saying, but that looks an AWFULLY lot like Phantom prophets helmet. The similarities are hard to deny

If i'm wrong i'm terribly sorry! but i'm just trying to call it as i see it. I've spent hours looking at dozens of peoples versions of Iron man helmets and can spot most of them instantly. Phantom prophet came to mind immediately.

I 100% agree but I just keep my mouth shut about such things now... they never seem to get resolved... but yes I would agree with you Ian.

I'm going to have to disagree with you guys on this. The jaw detail where it's supposed to hinge is not the same at all. And the detail bolts are in a different orientation.

I have to agree with you finhead... it is similar to mine, but the minor details like the side jaw are for sure different. but i may have a theory on why it does look like mine

Yeah nathan, i think i know what your theory is. but your influence has helped me become a greater artist. my helmet isnt as big as yours... i did go for a stronger jaw like yours, but its not as wide

well, if this helmet came out this nice and perfect in sculpt form, the Thor helmet you're doing should come out just as nice.

Looking forward to seeing that finished to this quality in sculpt form.

Looks like hardly any real sanding is even needed for a cast.
