Yard sale find.

One of the better things I have come across.

Box looks like something that the cat threw up but so you all know there is still cool stuff out there.

Sweet find! The best yard sale find I ever had was a place that had two original 1964 Jim Beams whiskey bottles (the ones that were used to create the "Jeannie" bottle from I Dream of Jeannie) with stoppers in perfect condition. One still had the label! I'd seen them going on ebay for over sixty bucks a piece... at the yard sale, they were marked fifty CENTS each!

Yes, I grabbed them both!

Wow, 50 cents? That is so cool!

I don't usually find many model kits but I did find a massive train set. It was an older H/O scale never opened with lots and I mean lots of accessories for $10.

I found the Orion on Saturday and this O scale train set at a flea market on Sunday.
The year isn't printed anywhere but I'm guessing early '60's, posssssibly late '50's. I asked over at the off topic if anyone knows a good train site.

is orion the better maker of toys like these ?

"Orion" is the name of the Space Shuttle.
The maker of the shuttle is "Aurora" and they are out of business since the mid '70's.
None of these are toys but rather model kits.

Many have a soft spot in their model making heart as Aurora made so many awesome kits from our childhood...some of which have not been produced since the late '60's to mid '70's.

The box on the Trek set says AMT and not AMT/ERTL as the maker.
The train kit set was produced by Nor-West and I heard back today that the kit dates back to the early '50's.

I never thought about yardsaling for kits. I imagine estate sales too. This really makes me want to yardsale in Florida or Arizona for some reason.

i need to find the " rare kit" list so I can look for them . I see kits all the time but never buy them unless it's something of interest

Tell ya what? I'm gonna give you a chance to double your investment and give you a cool 2 bucks for them..how does that sound? :love

Here's my Yard Sale find over 3 years ago...a model kit "hoarders" home with over 600 model kits dating back to the 60s all still in their original unopened boxes. Kits of cars, planes, battleships...etc were stuffed into the basement and throughout the house. Took me and my friend in the picture over 5 hours to dig them out, stack them, count them, pay for them , load them into 2 vans to cart them away. :eek
