Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands started

Hi James, Been following your work for a while now, and you are solely responsible for me spending just shy of £2000 getting a nice setup. :)

1. Have you used the same thickness foam throughout the body and Helmet.
2. Cutting perfect joints - as you do - do you go through a lot of blades?

Yes I used 10mm for all. I don't really remember blade usage being excessive - I used those snap off blade craft knives so you get several goes per blade.

You continue to amaze me with the things you do... has anything you done since finishing the foam suit been conventional? Well done mate, I look forward to seeing it finished.

Also, how the heck do you afford this stuff?!?

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands started

Thanks, I generally try to invent the processes where I can, although lifecasting and sculpting is age old. I started the project in October 2010, so the cost has been spread over several years.

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands video part 4

I didn´t have time to see this update video till today, but the wait was worth it.

I love the way you are running the gloves and the way you are joining them to the hands.

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands video part 4

I've been a big fan of your work and have been following your armor vids.

Fingers look great, but they're a bit round...any thoughts on adding some harder edges around the circumfrence? They have an almost hexagonal cross section in the movie.

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands video part 4

Nice update with the fingers!! Looking good!! It will be awesome when you make the machine to put the suit on!!

Re: XRobots Iron Man Mk6: Updated - Hands video part 4

The magnetic plates for the hands look great. Any chance of getting a copy of the file so I can print me a set?
