X-men-Legion costume. The hairstyle

I wanna make a costume of someone from the X-men universe. I wanna make a Legion costume, Professor X's son. The main feature if his look is his hair. Does anyone have suggestions of how one would pull this look off with out already having long hair to work with. Would a wig work?

The look reminds me of the Static X frontman.

I was about to suggest checking around for Akira cosplay wigs. It's pretty similar to Tetsuo's hairstyle.

Edit: You know come to think of it I wonder if Legion's look wasn't inspired by Tetsuo's being that they happened so close to the same time. I wouldn't think it would be out of the realm of possibility that somebody working on a book like X-men at the time would know about it and manga in general. Ironic that they just introduced an X-men character that's based pretty directly on Tetsuo if that was true.
