X-men: First Class costumes?

Can anyone out there identify the buckles on the straps? The center one looks pretty distinctive.

They seem to be not be anything particularly special. Except maybe the center one. Looks kinda custom.

Tons of stitching detail on those suits!

I think someone has said that those center buckles have little X's on them, but from these shots it's hard to be sure

Did some quick researching, the straps on the costumes defineitly are those of body harnesses, possibly like parachute straps.

The fabric looks a bit to me like some kind of (maybe nylon) weave?

Indeed! It could be either or, I bet both would work. We'll see, I wish there were some fellow costumers who could give us some sewing tips and such. Though I understand its hard to know what even needs to be done until we've got some more pics. I found one where you can vaguely see the Xavier's bottom half:

The body harnesses look very much like what they used for The Comedian costume in Watchmen

I'm so glad to see they changed the Magneto Helmet, it looks way better in my opinion. This movie should be pretty awesome, especially with Kevin Bacon.

I have to second this. Damn what took them so long to get it right. As for the rest of the movie only time will tell.

On the costumes: I'm not a huge fan so far, though I do appreciate that they included some yellow. I guess I'm just old school like that. I'm also glad they don't all look like bikers this time.

On the continuity: When I heard they were making a First Class movie I was bummed because frankly I'm sick to death of origin stories. While, being the continuity nerd that I am I can sympathize with your disdain for Mystique and some of the others being the "first class", I'm glad they went this route. Since the first team were pretty much just wasps updating it so that the second ethnically diverse team is the first class is much better to me. God only knows the one thing I don't need to see after 4 cartoons, 4 movies, and all the comics is the origin of the original 5 X-men again.

I like the throwback to the comic book version of the costumes. I like them.

At least they didn't go 100% accurate to the comics! Very 60's looking on X-Men #1!

Yeah I agree with you, Wicked. When I heard of First Class I initially despised the very thought. If they're gonna do a prequel film, they could at least do it right. But the films have screwed up the characters so much, at this point it'd be impossible without just starting all over. And I even hoped that might be what First Class would do, but with Singer attached, they've decided to pay most attention to X1 and 2. I have a personally vendetta against Singer, he left the X-men at their Empire Strikes Back of all endings, to go make superman and to leave The Last Stand in the hands of Ratner, who pretty much decided to make a live action cartoon of the characters. The result is, both Superman and X-men 3 sucked. Way to go, Singer. Lol.

But I've slowly been won over. I'm a Michael Fassbender fan, and I stand by my thought that if anything, he will CRUSH this film as Magneto. As for the costumes themselves, I thought it was a good way to be faithful to the original comics without doing like spandex, after seeing Kick-ass, I expected something pretty close from Vaughn, and I'm happy with the result. I was never much a fan of the thick black leather suits to be honest. They look cool, sure, but they look so thick they'd be impossible to move in, and most the time, the X-men are just standing still because, they ARE impossible to move in. Move too much even and they'd rip.I think there was a whole feature on the DVD where they had to leap over a wall and it took them like five hours to film because they couldn't maneuver correctly. So I like that these suits have a certain durability to them

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on how we could actually make these. I know I would love at least the jacket to ride around on my motorcycle. Maybe with some cyclops goggles just to be a bit more geeky. :lol

Nice! Yeah there was a Russian Trailer released the other day that shows some better shots of the costumes as well, it looks like Banshee's will indeed have wings.. Even if the kid looks like a freakin muppet.

Yeah, I had a nerdgasm when I watched the Russian trailer and I saw Banshee fly off with the classic cape of his. :cool
