Gone but not forgotten.
So I finally got myself a little down time and last night i decided to plow through my comics and start (try) to organize the piles of books I have that need to be be boxed - What I ended up doing was falling back in love with old issues that are true examples of great comic book storytelling and definite touchstones in my life that made me want to become a writer. One of the greats that really shook me up (I remember a week after I read this book I was still reeling from it) X-men 141 - Days of Future Past. This two parter by Clairmont and Byrne was so damn good - it changed X-men and spawned a slew of bad ideas that even today the Marvel universe has never fully recovered from. Heck, even the first X-Men movie borrowed from DOFP with the whole political death plot.

Anyhow, I was staring at the cover last night and I thought - the apprehended, slain poster would be an excellent prop to repro - large size like a movie 1 sheet.

Maybe the way to go would be using the actor images from the movies

and doing the "SLAIN" and "APPREHENDED" bumper sticker size to plaster over faces - except Wolvie of course.

What do you think - how would I go about doing this?

Thats a pretty cool idea!

Just glancing over it looks like you'd need to find actors for Scarlet Witch, Quick Silver and Havok for sure. Can't see whose behind Wolverine totally. For Banshee just dig up a screen cap from the Generation X movie from the mid 90's.

1st. awesome idea
2nd. This will be a cool prop, although I think I would prefer a comic version, the one with the actors will probably "fit" better. I dont think a realistic poster with comic faces would go over the best.

To me? The whole team that was born out of this two part story and the fact that this work of great writing was hammered into a pulp for the next 10 years. Bishop, Cable, X-Force, New Kid Phoenix, Children of pocket universes and so on - it really brought me to stop reading X-Men. The modern day equivalent is of course Kingdom Come, man they have bled that puppy dry and used and reused every character from that miniseries over and over again to the point where I don't even look back at the original anymore. How many times can Captain Marvel fight Superman, bear hug him and say "Shazam" as a weapon? Too many for my taste.
