WTK: Fake Brick Walls ?

I have a little room that I have taken as my own and would like to display my modest film prop/custumes in it.....Can the Board recommend fake brick wall panels? I would like it to get the dark, old brick basement look....

Also any tidbits and photos of something similar would be great. I know movies use the panels all the time. Thank You.

Remember browsing around Lowes they had some Brick panels that are ready painted. Paint job not so realistic but can be repainted.

You know instead of the plastic brick wall things... in the theater when I use to work on sets one thing I did to create the "brick look" is to paint the entire wall a greyish- off white color to look like cement then I bought brick red and black paint. Then just get a couple regular old cheap kitchen sponges and alternate them... brick red square with black on top for a couple then black with brick red on top. Really does the trick and the black makes it look like it has shadowing.

We did the same but also did some walls with a thin coat of thick cement with red brick color added.
You start out laying out the bricks with tape then lightly coat everything with the colored cement.
then you pull up the tape and it leaves a 1/4th inch raised "brick" on the wall.
When that dries you go back and paint mortar between the "bricks". It looks real because it is real.

go with brick veneer. It is essentially a real brick sliced about 4 times for thin strips. you then simply glue them up and grout them. the look is 100% old brick wall.

I did my office with wainscoting brick from Home Depot. It was reasonably cheap for the whole room and it is textured which helps!

I don't know if it's still available but about 15 years ago my dad made a TV/VCR stand from 2" x 2" timber cladded with hardboard that had a brick and mortar effect on one side ( ours was red brick but i'm pretty sure other colours were available ).
He bought it from a DIY store.

Unfortunately i can't show any pictures as it was dismantled and dumped when we moved to our current house.
