I'd probably have to vote worst prop as the PS2 controller flight stick/steering wheel in Men in Black 2. Lazy, lazy, lazy. Yeah, let's take one of the world's most recognizable controllers and put it in as a steering mechanism. No-one will notice.

Does that count when it was meant as a joke.

So the PS2 controller was supposed to be alien technology all along? Like when they said the microwave oven was really alien tech?

This gets my vote for the worst costume: David Bowie in Labyrinth

Seriously now, did we really need to see him in tight spandex showcasing his crotch? "Dance magic, dance" . . . yeah, we know what he's really singing about.

And check out SweatPantsErection.com if you're feeling brave. It's work safe, and pretty dang funny.

:eek

They would never let this show air in the United States today
as mostly all Americans have Boob Phobia :eek
and their sphincters slam shut when they see them
along with chanting Hide your eyes..... Hide your eyes :lol

I've never seen nor heard of this show, but I have to ask: did it really show that much skin? I thought we were getting more progressive, but now I think maybe not so much.

And to add to the topic, if we're counting costumes, then I nominate Roger Corman's Fantastic Four. Hopefully the reason for it being so awful is that the rumor about it being made to hold the license is true. It would wound my poor widdle soul to think that it could possibly have been an honest effort.

For some reason unknown to mankind, the VHS of that is in the VCR in one of the break rooms at work.

I thought it was some horrible 70's B-Movie at first. Then I realised it was just horrible and turned it off to save everyone. :lol

Well, she is wearing large pasties.

No we are not getting more progressive
I was watching a PBS program called Globe Trekker
They were in Micronesia, They were on an island
it had a large city and there was a carved wooden statue
of a woman in a park area I think (carving style was square and boxy) they
used the digital fuzzy mask, to cover over the statues Boob's
So even wooden boobs are a No... No...
Very sad indeed

So if the LeMat with a few bolt on greeblies was firing laser bolts instead of bullets, it would be as cool as a Mauser with a few bolt on greeblies firing laser bolts?

'Cos the latter kinda looks sillier to me.

Hmmm...I hadn't thought about that. I suppose it all depends on how well disguised it is. The le mat is too obvious, the mauser less so.

I remember on THE OUTER LIMITS they took a .38 snub nose and put a scope on it, that wasn't really the best idea in the world.

It seems you don't like the props because you don't buy into the concept. .

Yeah, I guess you're right about that...

It bothers me when I see powder fired, brass cased slug throwers in the future just in general. When they are designs that are anachronistic in the present it makes it worse.

It doens't take that much to at least dress the weapon: look at how long it took people to figure out the blade runner pistol. Or you could at least modify the concept: I remember in DR. WHO in THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI they had some neat firearm concepts: they used Mac 10's, but they dressed them with little pressure tanks and called the 'gas guns', implying the propulsive force was provided by pressurized gas instead of cartridges. It made the mac 10's a lot easier to swallow.

I think thats what a lot of people found hard to swallow about Firefly.
Yeah some props and costumes were given the full treatment (mal's pistol, Vera, mal's coat etc.) but a lot of stuff was just roughed up and used.
As for their low tech historical firearms, it was set in the poorest part of the universe. A pistol can be cobbled together for a few dollars and will kil a man just as dead as a million dollar laser.

Bad props? Yes, in part. Worst props? Not by a long shot.

Witness the cardboardy terror of Starship Troopers 3 -

That sound you hear is Robert A. Heinlein spinning in his grave.

Ps. I actually like Firefly.

Well I don't like anything about Firefly/Serenity. I don't like the characters, props, settings, story, none of it. But to be fair, I do not believe, not by a longshot, that they have the worst costumes or props.

Remember, one reason given was that the Alliance was keeping the tech level rather low on the outer worlds. As for old firearms, a computer operated, and connected machine shop could copy any firearm in the data base easily, it could be done now. Old weapons would be easy to make, and probably cheaper, plus many have proven reliability.

I believe that you will see firearms used for a long, long time to come, they are just too efficient, and inexpensive to drop. Plus, unlike what one episode showed, you can fire a firearm in a vacuum, and even underwater.

I remember that "Outer Limits" episode, S & W snub nose .38's with tv silencers, and a silver tube above the cylinder. At least they tried, one episode had a dressedup dart gun for a laser pistol. :lol
