Wonder Woman

Hi, everyone! I'm new here even though I've been checking out the RPF for quite some time now. My name is Dale Morton and I'm a professional mascot costume maker but I also make custom & specialty costumes of all types as well. I've been a member of the LOH for about two years now, am also on the new Superhero Costuming Forum and also on WPE. Anyway, here is a Wonder Woman costume I'm currently making for a girl who will be debuting it at this year's SDCC. The armor will be based on Terry Dodson's version, will be custom-sculpted, made of fiberglass and painted chrome gold. So, learned Lords and Ladies, give me your thoughts!

Here's a quick update. This is the completed chest armor & belt sculpture. The chest armor is clay, of course, but the belt "sculpture" was made of closed-cell foam that can be molded. All the finished pieces will be made of fiberglass and painted chrome gold. Hope you like it! -Dale.

terry dodsons ..... mmmmmmm I love good girl art!
only thing better would be adam hughes... drrroooolllll

lookin good there!

gonna dig out my early issues of current WW run to have a look and compare

So far that looks great! I'm curious. How will you attatch the armor to the soft parts?

I was just wondering why you didn't put the zipper on the side to conceal it more? Looks great though!

Funky Jedi....I'm probably going to attach the armor to the corset using Velcro attachment tabs.

Darienvader...The corset in the picture is just the "test corset". The finished one will still have the zipper in the back it will just be better concealed. Good question!

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words!

-Dale.

Here's another update. I just ran the fiberglass armor pieces yesterday and they've now been whisked off to the painter's studio. They may look a bit rough right now but when they're finished they'll look like they've been dipped in gold, baby!!!!

That's really looking fantastic:thumbsup Wonder Woman has always been one of my favorite female characters...or maybe it's just because I always had a crush on Ms. Carter:love:)

Can't wait to see this suit completed. I have a "real" Amazon that would knock your socks off wearing something like this. :love

ShackMan, I'd love to see shots of that real Amazon you're talkin' about. :love

Okay, here are some shots of the painted WW armor pieces. I can't say I'm totally happy with them, and neither is my brother who did the paint work. They're not as chrome gold mirror-finished as we want but he says that's because he didn't have enough time before they were due to do the job right. He's done chrome work for me before so I know he's capable of it, it just takes a bit a time to do it right. But Krystal is going to send these pieces back to me after SDCC for us to refinish them. But in the meantime, this is how they look at the moment. -Dale

It all looks pretty darn good considering it's a rush job, now we need to see them ON Wonder Woman.

Nice work! One quick question: What did you coat the closed cell foam to paint it or did you just use the foam to make the molds so you could glass that as well?
