Wonder Woman

It's already filming. Which means it's already financed, and has been in production for several months.

Stop touting information that is absolutely false just for the sake of drama, please.

But it's not like films that go into production haven't been canned after production and never shown or given a limited release to die a quiet death. Of course, this generally doesn't happen with as high a profile movie as Wonder Woman but stranger things have happened.

Absolutely agree that it isn't out of the realms of possibility. But this film isn't going to get bumped. Pretty much guaranteed.

None of that is false. Just because something has been shot, doesn't mean it gets released either. I don't think it's a problem though in reality - good or bad, BvS will make enough week 1 to greenlight their next couple projects is my guess. However, in the unlikely even it tanks even week 1, you really think they wouldn't kill something already in production?

That was my argument though, the reality of it. You came across as if it was a distinct possibility, whereas the reality is absolutely remote at this point.

But above and beyond all that.

What did everyone think of the snippets of footage that came out with the DC tv special?

I liked how everything looked, but one thing I didn't like, at all, was the fights. Something kept bothering me about them until I found out watching a review video : none of the kicks were even close to connecting. Bad timing all around, most visible with the horse riding sword swing. That gets me a bit worried to be honest, especially after what I think will be hard to top "Snyder-styled" action sequences with WW in BvS. But I love Gadot in what little we've see of her, so I hope for the best.

Yeah it was quite obvious that the kicks and punches didn't connect but that's okay because that is what post production is for. They were only like what 3 or less weeks into filming?

They've had the tech to digitally bridge the gap like that for quite some time. Hell, they used it in Gladiator to make the tiger swipes look much closer to Russell Crowe than they actually were. IIRC, the tigers actually swiped a good foot or two away from the actors and were only brought closer in post. My guess is that it's to mitigate the possibility of an injury on set.

Yeah I reckon the post production stuff will cover that - I think I had the same initial thoughts about it. I like how they seem to have gone into this kind of sweeping, broad, smooth fighting style. She isn't going to be brutal like Bats, or headlong strength like Supes. Graceful and powerful seems to be the order of the day in terms of fighting.

I like the tone of it so far, I've also seen some stuff being filmed in London? Which looks interesting.

And I think my favourite part was probably the little look she gives the mirror as she aligns the glasses - we all forget, but Wonder Woman and various heroes also have that tried and true issue of wanting to blend in to humanity sometimes. She'll presumably be coming from a race of people/demi goddesses that are used to the bare basics, battle gear etc isolation from the "modern" world, with no regard for fitting in to a societies pre-conceptions - to then be thrusted or dragged into a world where women were on the whole (back in 1915) being held down in terms of what was acceptable etc will be good, if they don't skimp on it. Which they shouldn't - a good film shouldn't only show how strong she is physically.

Gadot was one of the best thing in BvS, so personally I'm cautionary optimistic about it.

Really enjoyed Robin Wright in House of Cards, can see her projecting some serious authority as one of Wonder Womans parent type figures. Nice.

I wonder if this Steve Trevor will be just as ineffective as he was on the TV series, I swear he spent half of every episode either tied up or unconscious.

Well if he doesn't call the entire Amazon culture cowardly and stupid it will be a step up from the animated movie counter part.

I can't believe it has taken this long for a WW movie. Last year in Hawaii, I bought my wife a WW bikini for the trip. She told me to throw it out because she would't wear it. She wore it one day to a remote beach and a few women came up to her asking where she got it and how much they loved WW as a little girl. They had WW socks, underwear...they gushed about how WW was such a strong female role model. She wore it for the rest of the trip.
Guys liked WW for a different reason...same reason they liked my wife's bikini;) I was just surprised at how much these middle-aged women loved WW.
I just saw BvsS. I liked it. I thought Gadot's acting was actually very "Princess"-ish.

He really did! :facepalm
