WIP - TNG Isolinear Chips

including the fine line at the top? or is that just my eye playing tricks, no problem, will be sorted :D

Yen do you have an info on the 1st season tng chips, the plain ones? i'd like to try doing these. Was planning on making the labels up, but wouldn't mind a little more reference material.

no, that's just a cut line ;) The TNG plain ones really weren't interesting. They didn't had a close up fortunately.

the simple lines (one sided) can be seen on the left, the brown ones are very odd ones, which I haven't seen on TNG ever or missed.

I know they are simple, but i think i'd still like to make a few, they are after all a part of the history of trek and show how the prop developed. I'm all for the obscure prop :) Think i'll give the brown chips a miss, looks like they came from a house fire lol

yeah I'm not very fond of them too… :lol ;) Are you going to print the labels and the dots (two maximal)?, floppy disk labels are hard to come by these days ;)

here are HD Cap from Trekcore (The naked now):

They'd be REALLY easy to reproduce. Although, for the real hard core I'm sure you could go to any IT department that's been around for 20 years or more and they'll have loads of original floppy disks in new boxes with labels in a dark corner somewhere. :)

Well I do have some floppy labels but they dont look like these, they dont have dots. So looks like i'll be designing them myself.

They are simple, but I can't recall seeing anyone making them, perhaps because of that reason. Still I'm going to do a few, because i'd like them in my collection :)

For the dots just get coloured paper and use a hold punch to make them. I think they're the same size and sticking them on would add to the authenticity. :thumbsup

Here is the first sample of chips in blue and orange that have the graphics correct, will be adding labels later.

I've also discovered why they applied the labels in the way that they did, i found i kept catching the edge on the first set and some of them had began to peel. Was able to fix it, but still yet another thing i've learned!

Yenchin glad you approve! Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased with these. Now to nail the colours, I realise the orange aren't screen accurate for TNG. But they look amazing.

Thanks :) and yes, I'm happy to help fellow members out. Goodness knows this boards been helpful to me in the past.

Thanks Tim, a big thank thanks to YenChih Lin for his info on the chips. I certainly would not have got them half as good, without the details he fed me.

I plan to make these as well as Voyager chips, so expect to see a voyager prototype next week. I really want to do them in the same colours as the show. I've seen a few home made iso chips online and they come in all sort of colours, where as I'd like to stick to the show. While we only saw Voyager iso chips in orange, have to admit the TNG template looks pretty dang awesome as well.

Hey guys

So I was thinking about the Enter memory nodules. Can anyone suggest where I might source the white, grey part?

Are we saying PMMA, acrylic?

I'm up for giving it a shot :)

I think go for it, since PMMA aka Acrylic especially silk white acrylic was what google image search spat out for me. I don't know for myself, since I didn't watched ENT often and don't have a screen used one like feek61. He gave us all the information he could obtain - I guess the process hasn't changed much for doing memory units on Star Trek.
