All these chips look amazing. Glad I've found this thread. I just wish I had seen it earlier. There is so mush useful information here.
I want to build some of the "computer access panels" (for lack of a better name) as seen in Enterprise-D engineering.
Something like this:
For that I need a few isolinear chips. Some time ago I did some research and came up with a pattern. I tried laser etching and some different materials. Thats the result:
I think it looks great (just ignore the errors in the pattern and thats its only single-sided :lol).
But to get enough chips laser etching seem to expensive.
So I looked into silkscreen printing. I've found a local company to do the printing for a reasonable price (at least if you need a larger number of prints) and to match the laser results.
And while on it I decided to do some other colors as well, even if there are not screen accurate, but I liked it.
That the colors I decided to use:
So I ordered 32 acrylic sheets in 8 different colors in size 297 × 420 mm (DIN A3). On each sheet are 51 chips printed. And thats what I got today back from printing:

BTW: In reality the chips and prints looks even better than in the pictures. The color depends on the angle, light and background you look at it.
The next step is to have these lases cut. I also found a company to do this. I will send it to them on Monday. Which gives me some time to prepare the labels. Of course each chip will get a unique label, half with the early season color-codes and circles the other half with the numbered labels.
I just have to find the time to build the frame and slots to put the chips into. But due to a job change in October this may take some time.
I will keep you updated.
