I'm building this off a Pepakura base (found on the 405th) of the helmet. Credits goes to Flying_Squirl for the files.

I added fiberglass, and I'm currently adding Bondo to smooth things up and to add details

Yeah I started something like this. I workes my a** of and then the helmet was twice the size as my head.:lol It would fit a spartan super soldier.:lol I also made an Assault Rifle out of cardboard. It is really cool.:cool I'll post pick of it when I get my camera fixed.:unsure

Anyway awesome helmet keep up the good work!(y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

I'm going to try to make a recon helmet. I heard it was easy because it's only 18 pages of pepakura.:) I just need to look up on the 405th to scale the pepakura so I don't have a huge helmet. :unsure

Also what is your name on the 405th?

Oh and about that Recon helmet thing I won't be starting it for a while because I'm going to sculpt Sam Fisher NVGs out of clay and mold and make a latex pair. Maybe even sell them but I doubt it.:rolleyes

My forums just a few down.

I used Pepakura to build the Halo Helmet....WAY to big....used the program and scaled it down by 10% and built a new one...looks to be the right size.

Just some info for those wondering how much to scale it down.

Yea Scaling can be really hard. For the file I used, I unfolded it myself, so it is the right size.

No update to show really, I just filled some of the pinholes on the left cheek as well of starting to bondo the other cheek.

Did the same thing for the hand plates and shoulder pieces. Look to be proper size also.... 10% is the way to go.... with my height of 6 feet.

Right jaw almost done with the shape. Have to smooth it up.

Great progress!

Pepakura question: I make my models the right size in 3D but they always come out small from Pep. I end up trying to resize them when I print. Is there some trick to scaling in Pepakura?

That's not me who did the file initialy, but I believe you have to set a scaling rule with you import the model into Pepakura (I don't know for sure).

I used the scale for a 6'1" person, and it fits pretty much like it should do.

Thanks for the kind word, that's what push me to continue.

EDIT : And I believe the world units you use in your 3D program aren't the same as the ones Pepakura uses. Once again, not sure.
