Hi guys.
So, this is my first build. Its of an original character of mine, who with one particular person, a very close friend, I've been online roleplaying as for years. Well over a decade in fact.
Visually, he's a mix between the AVP Grid Alien and the aliens from AVP:R. But a little more streamlined, organic, and takes the torso from Resurrection Aliens.
Onto the build. Its on a budget, but I want to get it looking presentable at the end. I don't want to rush and finish with something looking shoddy.
To start with, I used cardboard and built up upon it with expanding foam. Once it hardened, I carved it down to the dome shape (ish) of the Xeno.
Heres where its at right now-
Now, the plan is this, and its where I ask for advice. What I was thinking along the lines of would be to build up detailing and such using air-drying clay, and then making a plaster cast of this. Then I'd make a pull (is that how you refer to it?) in either latex or plastic, to give a hollow shell and maintain a lightweight costume piece. Question- is this do-able?
I was thinking to make this costume as
a) light as possible
b) breathable as possible
c) Flexible. I want to be able to charge around and jump in this thing.
The head, cast in hollow plastic would be both durable and light, but not really sure its a viable option. I was thinking to use a long-sleeved cotton shirt and build up detailing with upholstery foam for the torso. I think if I kept the build the way it is now it'll end up weighing far too much to be worn.
I have a vision for this, but need advice to take it forward. Any help, advice or just general comments. would be gladly welcomed
