Windlass Studios Mark II Iron Helmet (Big Pictures)

I have a couple questions on the helmet that maybe I could get some input on. First how do you remove the oil that it is coated in? is there a special technique or just wipe it off? second is there a way to polish the helmet up so that it looks really bright without damaging it? Also has there been a review on the Mark I and if so does that one have a lot of problems too? You can pm me to keep this thread on track. Thanks.

That mask reminds me of an old Iron Man faceplate.

Sometime between the "pointy-eared" mask armor designed by Steve Ditko (it was the FIRST red and gold Iron Man armor) and the classic 1966-1985 Iron Man armor (the suit he wore during the first "Tony the Alcoholic" storyline) there was another armor similar to the "classic suit" that had a helmet faceplate with riveting around its edges.

Props to the armoring outfit and designers for keeping THIS superhero close design-wise to its comic book origins! I was really impressed by how authentic the armors came out and by the fact that the design crew RESPECTED the original armors and incorporated the best ideas instead of ignoring everything like just about ever other superhero film has.

I agree. That suit is usually referred to as the " Pre-Classic ", depending on who you talk to, or the " Rivet Armor. " It's the first IM I remember as a kid, from watching the old 60s cartoon. If the Windlass suit had rounder eye-slits and a larger mouth, it'd be even closer.

I'd really like to see more replicas and costumes of the earlier comic armors. I'm thinking of doing a version of the Ditko armor you mentioned (the Proto-Classic). Rather than the modern look of hard, overlapping plates, I'd like it to have the soft, " metal mesh " look of the early comics.

I bought one. Regardless of it not being totally accurate I think it is pretty cool. It's freakin ALL METAL! That alone makes it pretty damn cool. Unfortunately the one I got has a dent and a chip. Working on an exchange now.
