Here's my problem.
I HAVE been avioiding this thread cause I don't want the innevitable "YOU'RE RACIST!" reply.
I will try to explain what I am thinking on this while avoiding THAT. First my best friend (Since I was 4 years old) IS a black guy. We have had plenty of conversations about this type of thing. (his response to possible black spiderman was "why?")
OK, back to this new Annie...
WHY?
Why do we have to have an african american Annie?
And before you even start to get heated let me ask you this...
What if Stephen Spielburg, or some other famous white rich guy wanted to re-make Roots with HIS Daughter... told from a white perspective...
Wouldn't that be just about dumb as hell?
Here is my point.
Annie: "In the depths of the 1930's, Annie is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks."
Notice the time period... 1930's? America?
Think about it.
The 19... THIRTIES.
Is this going to be set in a NEW modern time? Or a pretend 1930's where there was no racism? :rolleyes
If so couldn't they just write an Annie-ish story and call it ANYTHING ELSE?
CAN ANYONE GRASP WHAT I AM GETTING AT??? It's not a RACE issue... it just doesn't make sense. It is a reason to cash in on a title.
And for the record, Jaden Smith in Karate kid didn't bother me... JACKIE CHAN DID.
But WHY Ken? Do you like Japanese people and not Chinese?
NO. But... JACKIE CHAN is a KUNG FU master. HE DOES NOT KNOW KARATE! THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!
A reboot of Blade with Tom Cruise would make more sense than this!!! :unsure
