Why is the suitcase armor from IM2 considered the MK5?!

I hope this is in the right forum. Why is the suitcase armor, which premiered BEFORE the final "Extremis" styled armor at the end of the movie considered the mark 5? Shouldn't it be the mark 4, and the triangle-arc powered suit be the mark 5, as it came about at the end? Maybe I missed something, so hopefully someone and explain this for me. Thanks!!

I know what you're saying, to be honest the suitcase should be the mark IV and the mark IV should be the mark V and extremis is left as VI

In reading The Art of Iron Man 2, I get the impression that the Mark IV was built earlier on given the damage that the Mark III took along with making further design improvements.

To suit up in the movie, he has to go back to his home in Malibu. It seems that the Mark V was designed later on for the practical issue of travel as demonstrated by the Monaco scene. It is also acknowledged in the book that this was an homage to all most of the other suits that could be fit into a briefcase.

Along with the Extremis suit, the Mark VI was also an homage to the Silver Centurion. This was a considered name and there were even tested color schemes for that look.

The one he builds in the cave is Mk I.
The silver one is the Mk II.
The one from the end of the first movie is the Mk III.
After the Mk III is damaged, he builds the Mk IV, which is what he has at the beginning of IM2.
The suitcase armor is the Mk V.
And last but not least, the suit at the end of the film is the Mk VI. It's just like the Mk IV aesthetically except for the triangle arc reactor.

People really can't tell the difference between the MKIII and MKIV?
