I laughed at this.
While they're at it, I think a new version of the Mexican "Santa Claus", complete with updated CGI f/x for the oscillating fan with an ear attached.
Okay - I have two serious ones -
I love love love this movie and would hope they did it justice - but
HERO AT LARGE would be perfect for right now. Problem is - who could possibly replace Ritter?

at 1:04 in the trailer (when the kid says -"let's see ya fly!" ) check out the guy in the denim jacket on the right - looks familiar doesn't he??
My second one - and a few years ago I actually tried to get the rights to this book so i could re-make it - and I'm sure most of you have never heard of it but -
The Legend of Hillybilly John - the movie made in 1974 is horrible but there's something there. The story is about this wondering nomad (John) who has to venture into the Appalachian mountains and take on all of the legendary creatures that haunt the area - ghosts, zombies, singing witches, flying monster birds - basically all of the legends people have told who grew up in the area. Imagine the old Sinbad movies but set against a Hillbilly background.
I'll also toss HOT STUFF into the ring.
