DON'T HATE!
I pre-ordered Sideshow's Raiders Idol. After careful consideration of all the facts presented here regarding its issues with accuracy, I decided that the overall look of this item is going to make an exceptional display piece. The price was more than fair and the fact that I don't have to paint it and that it comes with an attractive display base was a big selling point.
Just wanted to know who else here is in line for one of these?

I'm strongly thinking of getting it. It looks pretty good to my eyes. And yes, I'm a big Indy fan, owning the complete Indy gear getup.

And, you understand there's a difference between painting and plating, right?

Just checkin'

My mistake, post should have read......

Sadly i don't trust Sideshow ability to plate it so that in a few months the gold hasn't all flaked off.

I too am REAAAAAAAALLY close to ordering it. Even after talking to friends who have pointed some of the innacuracies to me, the fact that, for that money, I can have a plated idol AND a base is just too good a deal to pass up. Am I actually going to complain that the thing doesn't have, well, you know? :lol

Besides, I might be alone on this, but I have been looking for a base. Funny enough, I would have paid that much JUST for that. But shhh, don't tell Sideshow. Worst case scenario? I will have a nice base for a future idol and one more idol will show up on eBay. :love

Now see, this is what I hate about the RPF...I'm just checking out the forum, come upon this link, and next thing you know I've ordered the Idol!

But seriously folks, I agree that it's a pretty good display piece for the money. I've had one of the unfinished resin idols in my cabinet for at least a year just waiting to tackle painting it.

This has got to be one of the most recognizable props in movies, it will be nice to finally have one on display!

This one is ready to go right outa the box. Hopefully Sideshows QC comes through for us... :confused

After considering all of the information provided and the fact that I can not afford a Gobbler idol, I will be ordering the Sideshow idol. This is my first idol and I think for the money it looks good. I hope I will not regret the decision.

I'm doing the flexPay option - only $95/mo for two months was too good a deal to pass up.
This will be good enough - don't really see the need to persu a Gobbler Idol - because mine too would sit packed away somewhere waiting to get finished.
Now if Sideshow would stop messin' around and just release a 1:1 Crystal Skull already!

Thanks. It's a 10 ft. David Morgan that I bought from him new about 4 or 5 years ago. I even had him autograph the product card that comes with it. Definitely the pride of my collection!
