white waterslide decals

Anyone here able to make water-slide decals that have white letters? I have an inkjet printer and the decal film, but it won't print white. :facepalm

I had this problem with needing white lettering, for a model I made. So I just
purchased the white waterslide paper, then it printed outlines, or color over top of the white. I only had access to the Teastors stuff, they sell at Hobby Lobby, but it worked out very nice!

Not sure if that help's! But it's another direction anyway's!

The easiest way would probably be to get some white decal paper and outline the text in a color that matches the color of the object your putting it on. I've done this before. It can be a little tricky to get the color right so test a few shades.

haha, thanks weaselhammer.
Best suggestion I can make; and I've done it a couple of times with great success, is to use a two part decal application.
If your design isn't terribly complicated, you print out the color that you would need on regular decal paper, and then print out an outline of what you need in white onto the white paper.

For example:
On this Army Air Corp decal:

I would print out the color portion on clear decal paper.
Then I would print on the white decal paper the outline of the star so I would know where to cut; alternately you could just cut out a circle for a richer color.

Then it's a matter of placing the white portion onto the surface and let dry.
Coat that with a layer of clear.
Then place the color portion on top of the white and voila!

Edit: I should preface this that this is a technique where printing entirely on white paper is not feasible; such as instances where opacity is required and clear decal paper is needed.

Thanks for the suggestions. My only problem is I want to print small letters. Cutting them out would not be feasible. :( I don't suppose anyone here has one of those ALPS printers? :(

My problem is compounded. Small white letters in a not-so-popular font - Futura Demibold.

I've gotten white letters done on waterslide decals before from a company called Bedlam Creations. He does ALPS printing:

Bedlam Creations : Creators of Waterslide Decals, Vinyl Decals, Rub-On Decals, and Graphic Designs.

The website isn't working for me right now and I haven't gotten any made in over a year, so I'm not sure if he's still in business. But here is the guy's contact info from my correspondence with him:

His decals are great and unlike some other places, you can do really small orders (even 1 page of decals if you want). It was something like $35 for a single page, but I think he does half pages too. Here's some stuff I've gotten printed. The quality is great:

And those decals are all from vector files I created, so you can use whatever font or design you want.

Now THAT'S nice.

I was looking at vinyl letters people and that was hard to find -- most of them wanted to use their font and layout.

(Nice tank, too!)

Hi, I know this thread is old but does anyone know of anyone in the UK that does ALPS printing as I need a few sheets of small white lettering on clear decals printing and was recently let down by a guy that took on the order and then got all stupid about it. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

Might not be what you're looking for but from time to time, I'll buy dry-transfer decals from train shops. They commonly have white, black, red, and yellow.

Hi, thanks but I am looking to get a special set made up but it seems like asking the impossible in the UK unless you want to sell vital organs to pay for them!!!!

I found one guy who was offering this service but after taking the commission I heard nothing and when I chased him he told me he was suffering from chronic depression and basically to get lost!!!! excellent!!!
