What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

I'll throw in another vote for the Bat'leth. Aside from that, most movie swords are just too... fantasy for my liking. I much prefer good, historically accurate medieval European swords circa 11th-13th century.

Definitely Highlanders sword.. Also Achilles sword in Troy..

Also liking the look of Perseus's sword in the Clash of the Titans remake..

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

Not to sound rude but the batleth is insanely impractical and very fantasy.
Now Talons mighty blade from the Sword and the Sorceror on the other hand....poetry in motion and by poetry I mean dirty limerick.

Yea, The Bat'leth is about as far from historically accurate, practical, or even usable in any form of combat as they can get.

But I too really cannot stand the overly fantasy things that appear in a movie. Things with too many jewels, gold hilts or blade shapes that would give total advantage to the enemy just so they can look "pretty" to a Hollywood audience.

That said, I am also a fan of Prince Caspian's Sidesword.

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

Not strictly a movie but:-

Ronon Dex's Sword from Stargate : Atlantis.

...anyone ever made one?
Ooo, I love that one as well. So sleek.

I'd like to know too if anyone's made a replica yet.

But my absolute favorite sword would have to be Glamdring, followed closely by Ronan's sword and Green Destiny.

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

Kikuchiyo's Okatana is my favorite sword.

Did someone say the Pan's sword from Hook? Yeah? Well seconded.

I mean, the Atlantean Sword is probably the best sword, but this one's my favorite.

I got to see one of these in a Planet Hollywood in... Toronto? It was beautiful. Has anyone ever done one?

The Bat'leth is only impractical if you try and use it like a sword. The style is probably more akin to quarterstaff fighting. I'll agree that for prolonged use, the weight and balance (or lack of) wouldn't be good, but it still looks cool, right?

Connor MacLeod's Highlander movie katana is my favorite. It's the first replica sword I ever bought.
I'd also love to have the Kurgan's sword, if it could be disassembled like in the movie, and had the little switchblade prongs.

Blade's sword is cool too. I'd love to have one with the aluminum alloy blade Tony Swatton made for the movie. The steel blade is so heavy to swing around one-handed.

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

Here are most of my favorites off the top of my head...

The Atlantean
Conner McLeod's H1 film katana
Duncan McLeod's no collar tv series katana
The Kurgan's sword
The Green Destiny
The Beastmaster's sword
Excalibur
Takeda's katanas in The Hunted
Inigo Montoya's rapier
Wind's sword in House of Flying Daggers
Nomad's sword in Steel Dawn
Blade's sword
He-Man's sword
Strider's sword
Bill & The Bride's katanas

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

The 'Father's sword' from Conan the Barbarian, followed closely by the 'Atlantean sword, same film.

Honorable mention to the 'Kurgan's sword' from the first Highlander film.

I'm more than a little shocked that Hadhafang, Arwen's sword, didn't make your list! :eek

My top three are the Atlantean, Strider's Ranger sword, and Luke's "laser sword" from A New Hope.

Yeah, I responded in this thread before I truly became enlightened as to the awesomeness of it.
