Hey guys i'v been gone for some time now and im just starting to get back into collecting, and i was just wondering whats happening with EFX? I checked on their website to see if they had any new information on any new stuff coming out or new newsletters but all i found was 2009 ones and i haven't gotten any in a long time. As well as the phone number is not working for me. So i was just wondering if anyone could fill me in.

1-2 months ago, EFX announced they are shipping the Vader helmets in July. And, of course, the Tricorder was released 3-4 months ago with rave reviews.

EFX has a rep here at the RPF, Bryan, with the user name eFX of all things ;)

If you are interested in a Vader bucket, you can email mcvader@efxcollectibles.com to be placed on the wait list assuming they are still accepting requests. I'm sure a few will drop out with this increasingly crap economy of ours.

What's up with them is it's a total mystery to me how the company is afloat when they don't ever release any product. I heard someone describe the Obi Xtreme as the Chinese Democracy of lightsabers. I miss MR. :(

eFX is just a side-business for the people who run it, right? With only a couple of products per year, I mean, it can't pay the bills, can it?

The Tricorders were extra MR inventory from the factory... pretty smart to make use of them like that!

They seem more like a garage kit company than a put together company like Sideshow.
They never update their site and I never see any new product, just a lot of hype of what they are going to release but never do.
It is what it is.

Ummm... I haven't heard that they were extra inventory at all.

Shrug. I have. Does it matter? It's a brilliant way to make money for a young company.

Another example: If the tooling for something like a Stormtrooper helmet exists, and you used to work for the company that made the helmets and know the fellas in China that made them, wouldn't you think "hey - I think I know a few ways we can get stuff to collectors hands asap"?

You have your resources, use your contacts, and maximize them.

I heard from Brian they are waiting to announce (and will be bringing) the new releases at Comic Con San Diago.

I'd rather an announcement closer to the actual release, with units actually starting to be produced, than to keep us dangling in the wind for something that might never materialize, like so many other prop companies.

I call eFx effex, but I have heard people call it E-FX... what do y'all call it?

As for MR, I don't missing waiting for 2 years for a product that they never released. I don't miss having 100 different Clone helmets come out that were just repaints of the first one. I don't miss the 1000 different Lightsabers they released that were variations of the same one. I don't miss all the lies they told at the end. I don't miss all the crap they put the origianl owners through when Corgi bought them out.

MR was not perfect. EFX is trying not to make the mistakes that put MR out of business, and so far, they have done okay.

It's very easy to complain about something when you don't know what is going on.

I have always called it Eee - FX and am sure I have called it that when talking to Bryan, and he has never corrected me, but then again, Bryan is exceedingly cordial, so maybe he just didn't want to hurt my feelings. :lol
