What would you like to see made?

Hi All,

For those that are unaware, I am currently at University studying for a BA(Hons) Degree in Special Effects.
I've been looking to supplement my meagre student finance, so thought about making some props that would be in demand and that I could easily make multiples of.

So, my question to you, the good people of the RPF, is:

What would YOU like to see made?

The items would ideally be something that are currently in short supply (if available at all!), but in demand.
Either a prop, or solid costume piece.
Not too large, so as to be financially available to everyone, worldwide (size would help to keep vac-forming or casting costs down, as well as shipping).

My thanks to you for taking the time to read this post. I look forward to gearing your thoughts :)

Christmas wishes to you all

Mark

Taking into consideration all your requests, and brainstorming at a comic book shop we have come up with Green Arrow trick arrow tips as a project that touches on everything you've mentioned.

Arrow on CW is incredibly popular.
Green Arrow, the classic, had a lot of "trick" arrows.

Before those arrows unleashed gas, razor blades, glues, or other things they were in some kind of "tip" that would be on the bladed portion of the arrow.

You could create different styles of these tips that would be able to fit onto the end of regular arrows, and be instant additions to a Green Arrow collection.

If you're willing to make a quiver you could do something cheesy like ARROW OF THE MONTH.
The quiver could hold 13 arrows, and each month you put out a new arrow to fill it.
Once you've purchased all 12 (with proof) you can get the 13th for free.

I'm a noob, but that's what I got for you.

noob or not: that, my friend, is a great idea!

I shall start researching the arrows forthwith!

many thanks for the suggestion :)

but please, feel free to keep 'em coming

I want to see someone offer the Star Trek 3 Communicator, as there's no source for them anymore and I really REALLY want one. :)

Stargate Goa'uld Ribbon / Hand Device.

I second that, Alan!

... and there are probably at least another couple of hundred people out there who would buy one if the price was reasonable :lol

A most iconic prop from Stargate that could be done relatively cheaply if cast in resin instead of the (literally) half dozen very expensive metal ones that exist out there.

At a rough and ready estimate, profit included, it should be very 'easy' to sell this in the $100-150 range, including an el-cheapo single LED light behind the central crystal.

Reference pics are also abundant.

On the ribbon - cheap but not tacky
- Actiprops did one and the central dome for the light is a plastic bottle top

Agreed on all... If the pricing can be kept affordable, I'd definitely be down for one as my first REAL Stargate prop; I have loads of Stargate stuff, but it's all costume equipment and whatnot.

That's why I said 100-150, and not 50-75 :ninja

For 100-150, it would have to be identical to the pic above, and albeit in resin, it wouldn't be a problem (at least not for me) as it would be for display only.

It is doable.

Alan, that's a bloody brilliant idea! I've been wanting one of those myself for ages!

And Andy, are you already making this? I certainly wouldn't want to step on any toes.

It is isn't it :lol .... but so obvious at the same time ! I'm shocked nobody on here has ever tackled this.

So, did you guys get this sorted out ?

I've not heard anything from Andy, but the pic (without any comments!) suggests that he's currently working on it
