What would you feel and do if you sent away an original C3PO head?

This is a story that will put the chills down the spines of many... For some years ago we came over an original C3PO head from the same people that chromed the C3PO back in the seventies.. This was one of the mask that was test chromed along many other parts during the time to get the correct color. The helmet is not a screen used peice but still an original helmet.

Since then as some of you know we moved our workshop not long ago. We cleaned out the old workshop and had to trow allot of moulds away, among several Aliens peices and other original peices due to space.

I recently reposted some photos of this helmet and we have gotten allot of emails about wanting to do a run of these even supply more photos. So we started to look arround for it.... And we cant find it...

We now suspect we have by a mistake sent the original helmet along with a full suit or a statue... Unless we find it, its either stolen, not so realistic because very few people know were is. And its allot more to steal than a pale aged C3PO head.. So most likly someone have a Original C3PO head...... In frank we have not though of the head or looked for it for a loong time and we cant recall seeing it for atleast 2 years...

We got the moulds from it... But still we misplased movie history.. How would you feel?

Note the bolts on the helmet was the peices that was originally on it. Its nothing like the final peice that they used in the movie. If someone here got one of our C3PO please check if you got these peices on your helmet.... And if you do, i do hope the person is honest enough to contact us....

Wow that's awful. Especially the part about throwing away original moulds and items due to space. Next time, call me :lol

Def. Frustrating, but there is still hope it's somewhere. I obviously think it's worth a second look.

I didnt understand who you might have sent it to. A customer?

Yes a we did a limited run of private comissions.. I had all past clients stored on my computer but after the crash i never got it back.

And for moulds.. Sometimes we have to say stop... We done allot of variouse stuff and sometimes you get tired of it. Among this is the dilemma with the Robocop moulds. Either restore it for a pricetag of over 6000 USD and allot of time.. Or 5 min to the dump. Also when you done something for many years you just get sick of doing it. No love or creativity left...

I will have to go trough the paypal logs to find out...

I would offer a reward , that way if it ever turned up at an auction house it would be worthless to the current owner. Maybe the reward might be worth more than the helmet to whoever has it. What's an original helmet worth if everyone knows it belongs to someone else.

I once had something similar happen to me. Sculptures which I had been working on were at a company that was being sold. The original sculptures and molds were lost before I could retrieve them.

You just have to move on.

In the future though, it would be a nice jesture for effects/prop studios to inform fans that items will be cleared out. They would surely get help with their house cleaning...if the gave enough advanced notice.

Yeah. I'm sure fans would be happy to transport the items home themselves, thus saving a trip to the dump! It always strikes me as wrong to destroy a piece of history.

I remember the old RoboCop molds thread. Were they saved or destroyed?

So wait you have a production made piece and you just leave it sitting around in the shop and then either lose it or mail it out to a customer by mistake ?
Gotta admit i'm in two minds one side is thinking i'm gutted for you the other is thinking if you're that careless about it's hard to feel sympathy.
Especially as you can't recall seeing it for 2 years, it cant have been all that important to you.

Why would it be worthless to whoever has it ? it wasn't stolen.

Condolences on your loss, but I'm inclined to agree with other posters in that such an esteemed piece that's just lying around to the point that it was sent out without notice until recently can't have meant all that much, and if someone else came by it through no mischief of their own, I'd say it's not stolen at all...

QFT. A production used piece is worth a few thousand to someone but you don't remember seeing it in two years or can't remember what happened to it? :confused I think it's best to just move on at this point.

You threw away original, irreplaceable pieces of movie history, and now want help/sympathy because you can't find one? Not gonna happen, sorry.
Time and again we see studios or prop companies throwing out stuff that most folks here would gladly give room to. It's a shame and a waste.

Dont want anyone pitty us.. Must admitt we are a bit frustrated it could happend or how it could happen i dont know. We cleaned and moved allot of items....
Also once we took the moulds it was put away.
The helmet was taken photos of along with other replica helmets at one point. Regardless of remorse and feelings pr now its not found and belived to be shipped out with other helmet.

In regards of Robocop moulds Still got them....
And considering the options and possible offers. Dont belive we will destroy these. But it will be a long time til we will get funds and time to restore them.

as much as i feel your loss i feel what all others have said before...
i can´t believe you simply "lost" a piece of movie history and even didn´t notice it for so many years... :eek

i really hope you´re just kiddin´!

and for the molds... give them to other enthusiast!

now, really... is this a true story???????? :confused
