The red silk-looking lining, with the woodgrain looking pattern on it. If I was to go into a fabric store looking for that, what would I ask for??

Ask for Moire ( pr. - more-ay)

Ah yes. Interesting! I assume that is the "grain" on the fabric. Is there a separate term for the fabric itself? or does "moire" describe the whole thing?

Like, is it "Silk with a moire pattern", or "Silk Moire" or "moire silk"??

I don't think it's a trick of the lighting. It shows up on both panels of the lining, and it contrasts to the non patterned silk rectangle by the chest.

Ah yes. We have a winner!!!

This isn't the EXACT thing I'm looking for, but yup, that's the pattern. Silk Moire it is! Thank you so much Jayn!

moire describes the 'interference' pattern woven into the fabric -usually silk

Does this job involve getting access to your credit card? If so, I am so in!

As for references, check with a Ms. Berry, first name Laam.

Yes, you will be issued your own corporate card.

I consider Ms. Berry a hostile witness, as you are web-engaged to her. her testimony cannot be considered reliable.

I was only interested in getting web-married in order to obtain the e-tax benefits. I had some virtual children instead with a famous young starlet thanks to makemebabies.com, so I have no need for my sham wedding anymore.

Are you planning on replicating ALL of Lucious' costume, and if so, have you attempted to find that broad paisley print yet? I only ask because hunting for paisley is one of my least favorite things. After a while you get what I can "paisley blindness." It all just looks the same.

Moire is created by a roller treatment :) Woven patterns don't have the same shifting effect. I've only really seen that in heavy upholstery.

Just a bit of cool geeky stuff ;)

I'd look for moire taffeta (like initially found) but many moire patterned fabrics have a ribbed appearance like bengaline or faille. And you want it to have that same drape and hang.

My current thought is to find the black base fabric, which ALSO appears to be a paisley, and then get the big red ones custom embroidered. I think with the base fabric, it will be realy hard to tell what it is, so nobody will be able to call BS on accuracy. The larger shapes should be easy enough to draw up in illustrator and have sewn into the base.

that's my current working theory :)
