What is your favorite comfort lining for masks/helmets/rigid costume parts?

I've used foam mesh shelf liner for comfort lining masks/helmets and rigid costume parts that don't get worn over a padded underlayer. I have also tried felt, but shelf liner works better for stuff that shifts a lot with movement and pads better, and it looks pretty nice if you are doing show-and-tell with costume parts.

I was wondering what other people used, or if I am weird for doing this. :lol

It all depends on the build and the area I'm trying to pad. Usually I like to use a camping mat material. It makes for a pretty comfy padding, however, it can get hot.

It really depends what your making.
For a steampunk or victorian style mask, a soft velvet looks the best and feels the best.
For a normal helmet, i use felt. Probably not the best thing to put on it, but its cheap and it works for me.
Padding, that all just depends on what you want.

I found some super-soft 6mm and 12mm neoprene foam on eBay a few years back. It's way softer than say a mouse-pad. I've used it for padding when a tight fit is indicated. Superglued it to the back of the rigid piece.
