What If?: a new Wizard Of Oz movie....

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up.

Robert

No problem. But I should warn, you should judge for yourself. The reason why I say this is because I have a bizarre pallet when it comes to films. I've got the A-Grade stuff mixed with B-Grade stuff. I've got classics mixed with moderns. I've got foreign titles mixed in with my domestic stuff. I've got "good" and "bad" films mixed together. I've got over 300 films in my collection (the last time I checked, I had 297 DVDs in my collection, including Box sets, and that was in November 2008. I happen to know this because I did five separate videos I uploaded to YouTube about my collection, which is just a series of still frames of the DVDs in their cases. Some titles I replaced with newer and/or better editions).

I think some of you are missing the point I am trying to make that it would NOT be a remake (not a musical) but a true direct adaptaion of the original novel, using modern SFX, and modern production design.
It would certainly be a completely different movie and would take absolutely nothing away from the classic musical version.
Regardless of opinions, I believe there is a substantial market for this movie and sooner or later it WILL happen. I'm just crossing my fingers that Tim Burton is not offered the job...

Well, I thik there are two or three actual Wizard of Oz films in pre-production.
That's not to say any will get made but I thought one was supposed ot be based more stringently on the book and another was a sequel? Maybe Ozma of Oz?
I think the third was also an adaptation of the book, but I don't recall how it was different.

There was some buzz about this earlier in the year, maybe even discussions about casting. Still, that Logan's Run remake and Forbidden Planet and a slew of others are also "just a year or two away" - for the past ten years.
