What happened with my trade with Infrno and Mr X

I thought about putting up a post on this situation months ago but I wanted to give Infrno and Mr X the benefit of a doubt and tried to give them time to resolve the situation. I emailed them earlier and invited both of them to respond here if they would like to present their side of the story. I’m not looking to try and get the admins or anyone to intervene or anything like that. I just felt like venting a bit and to also put a warning out there to anyone looking to deal with Infrno or Mr X. Maybe my misfortune can be a lesson to someone else.

Essentially what this is about is a trade I started with Infrno back in 2010. I started talking to him in November to get some info about commissioning a Begins suit to see about maybe going with him to do my armor and cowl. We discussed terms and came to an agreement. Between March 12 to June 17 2011 everything was finalized and payment in full was made for a commission comprised of Begins armor, a cowl, and gauntlets. June 18 I got a response back confirming receipt of the money and earlier in the month he gave me a turnaround time of 3-4 weeks. Up to that point everything seemed fine. As far as trades go I typically prefer to pay upfront and get it out of the way. It’s how I’ve done most of my trades on the BOTB and RPF and I haven’t had any issues with that except for with Infrno.

There wasn’t any rush to get things done with the suit so I gave him a bit of leeway with the time to get the suit completed and out to me. I know sometimes it takes multiple pulls to get quality pieces so I figured if he needed a bit more than the 3-4 weeks that was fine. In September I was curious where we were. At this point I hadn’t received any communication from Infrno so I went ahead and emailed him on Sept 8 to see where we were at. Sept 10 I get a response to let me know that it was almost done but he busted his leg. He was kind enough to include some pretty gnarly pics of his leg at the time. Everything was still fine at this time. I figure a leg injury can take 6 weeks, maybe more so additional delays were to be expected.

Jan 25 2012 I Hadn’t heard anything from him at that point so I emailed him to see where we were. Feb 13 I sent him another email since I hadn’t received a response at that point. I started to get errors with his email we were using at that point so I tried his other email address and even his website. I even resorted to leaving posts up on the Cave to try and get a response. June 30 I finally get a response from Infrno. For some reason he was thinking I received the suit. I never received anything at that point. Never got an email to let me know anything was being sent, no email to confirm I received anything.

July 3 he asked if I’d been in contact with Mr X saying they spoke and he was told by Mr X that the suit was sent out. I find this bit amusing because it was my understanding up to this point that Infrno would be making the suit. Not Mr X. Mr X never gets mentioned until this email. This is the point where everything pretty much went to hell with the whole deal. July 5 I get an email from Infrno with Mr X’s email address so I can get in touch with him. Okay fine. I went ahead and emailed Mr X so we could try to get this finished up.

July 30 I finally get an email from Mr X. He said he sent the suit out a year ago and that he needed to check his records to see who signed for it and whatnot. Okay, a year is a long time, I figured it may take a bit to find the tracking info so I gave him a couple of weeks to see if he could find the tracking info. Aug 15 I was curious where we were so I emailed him to see where we were. I don’t get any response until aug 31 and that was only because I emailed Infrno to see if he could contact Mr X to see what was going on. At this point it’s also the first time I mention getting a refund. I figured if they couldn’t deliver on their end then a refund was in order.

Sept 28 I email Mr X again. I have this feeling if I didn’t email Mr X or Infrno I wouldn’t get any contact at all. They’ve got to be two of the worst people as far as keeping you updated on what’s going on with a trade. This is the second time I mention refund. I get an email from him on Sept 29 and another one on Sept 30 basically trying to reassure me that everything will get taken care of. I wouldn’t receive another email from Mr X until… Nov 6. That was only because I emailed him on Nov 5. At this point I pretty much let him and Infrno know that I was no longer interested in the suit. At this point I pretty much told them I wanted a refund. Nov 6 Mr X states that he still hadn’t had a chance to go through the boxes where his papers are. So he had over 3 months to try and find a tracking # and he produced nothing. As he states in this particular email, “I’ve had no chance to go through the boxes where my papers are as I said they are in storage and not where I am. So I just ate the cost and made the pieces again. They will ship sometime end of next week and I will send over the tracking. “

So he stated he would send out everything the following week which would have given him until Nov 18 if we go to that following Sunday. Surprisingly enough no email from him at that point. I email him Nov 19 and again on the 26th. No contact from Mr X until Nov 28. His response, “Had to pay a guy about $500 in the end to finish the pieces just to get this even. All my molds are stored back where I used to stay so it wasn’t really that easy or convenient . So as soon as he gets the pieces in the box and shipped I’ll have the tracking. I know he was just about done but we had thanksgiving and life.” So basically he lied to me on the 6th about sending stuff out the following week. The 19th would have fallen before Thanksgiving so the holiday had absolutely nothing to do with anything. Now there’s also a magical third person involved in trying to get this suit done. Dec 10 I email him and he emails me back. Again refund is mentioned and again I don’t get anywhere with Mr X. The email also confirmed for me that the suit is nowhere near ready to go at this point. So here we are a year and a half after the money was sent and they’ve basically stolen my money. Nov I emailed Infrno as well. An interesting thing I found out from Infrno at that point was that Mr X was into Infrno for a bunch of money as well. Mr X must be a really good friend to Infrno for him to keep working with him at this point is the only thing I can figure from that.

We get to Dec 10 and up to this point in regards to a refund the only thing I’ve gotten from Infrno and Mr X is that the other person got the money. At that point I’ve pretty much reached my limit with the whole ordeal. I’m a very patient person but even I have my limits I suppose. I decided I would try and push Mr X towards getting this done. Some people can’t work without supervision or deadlines. Since Infrno seems to be incapable of taking charge and making sure that Mr X is on point I went ahead and gave him a cutoff date of Dec 22. At that point I let them know I wanted either a tracking # to let me know everything was on its way, or a refund confirmation via PayPal. I let them know that if I didn’t receive either than my next step is to pursue legal action against them. At this point it seems like the only way I’m going to get my money back. In addition to that I’ll be filing a report with my local police via their internet crimes unit. There’s a couple of other things I’m going to pursue as well.

Some people would say I should probably just let it go but that doesn’t work for me. It was a lot of money and I can’t just drop it. If I did that then they would have my money and I would have nothing. I feel I’ve been more than fair with both of them. It’s their fault it’s reached this point. I’ve ordered stuff all over the world and across the country. I’ve never had any issues receiving anything. Mr X’s responses to the situation make it really suspect that he sent anything at all a year ago.

That pretty much brings us to the emails I sent them earlier letting them know I’ll be getting lawyers and going from there. They need to take responsibility apparently need to learn a lesson. Sorry to make this such a long post but I keep detailed records of all my trades so there’s a lot to go through sometimes. I wanted to give everyone a clear picture of where I’m coming from on my end. It also seemed the best way to lay out the details of the situation without making an attack on Mr X or Infrno. I want to be clear also that my problem with them is the way they handled the situation not on them personally. Also I wanted to put this out as my reason to why I recommended not dealing with either one of them as far as trades.

This post is available on the Cave, BOTB, and RPF.

When you deal with something like this do not pay all in one payment just need to pay half when placing the order and another half when the product is done and ready to ship. This is the way I deal with anyone to commission me. Lesson learn and I hope you get this problem resolve.

That sucks, trading on these sites can be terribly frustrating when the other party doesn't play fair. I've been on the other side of the coin when things have gone wrong so I know how you feel. A while ago I produced some art work for a guy, we'd agreed a price and payment was never sent, he didn't get the art work but my time and materials had been wasted and it was very frustrating, after over a year of emails and broken promises I had to admit defeat, resigned to the simple fact I'd been cheated.

My suggestion is.. if you pay by PayPal.. if the product isnt there in UNDER 45 days.. file a PayPal dispute...

I think you get up to 45 days to file.. past that.. (no go)..

If someone can NOT get you your item/product in 45 days.. they have no business make a sales/interest thread or taking payments IMHO.
