What electronics do people want?

(Not sure if this should be in off-topic, if so please move)

All, I am looking for input on what electronics people would like to see. Either something that is not currently avialable or a low cost version of somthing.

I recently started "Movie prop Friday" at work, in which I bring in a movie prop, usually Star Wars. People really enjoy it. They snap photos and ask lots of questions. I work in an R&D Enginering so they callenge me.

Anyway, The senior Electronics engineer wants to work on a project with me. I had my Stormtrooper bucket in last Friday and said I would like a low cost voice amp with an auto static burst. He said he could do that. I also thought about electronics for the Hero HIC panel.

Then i told him I would enquire on the forum, if he was going to do the work I might as well share the wealth, so to speak.

PLEASE challenge him. He is VERY smart and very good at what he does. So make it a big wish.

So let me know...Not sure if anything will come from it but then again something great.

Ben

Hmmm, well, here's something I've been wondering about.

How about 3 laser pointers arranged in a cluster with a small-as-possible power source that can fit inside a Predator helmet and be activated by a remote?

I think this would be a great addition for display helmets, or for those that create Predator costumes. Being able to activate the laser targeter remotely would make a nice change from having to constantly take the helmet off it's mount, switch it on, place back on mount...only to do it all over to turn it off.

Definitely would be interested in something even partially accurate for a HIC Hero Panel

Would not mind some lighting for an R2 dome

And the LEDS for 3PO's eyes.

Not too challening on that last one, but a quick, cheap alternative would be great.

What's the timeframe, where are you located, can my stuff ship tomorrow (JK)?

Please keep us informed and feel free to PM me with any specifics.

Appreciate the help.

I'd definately be up for a HIC hero panel. You could also ask on the HIC Builders club on yahoo groups...

I'd be up for the electronics for "cricket chirping" for the Noisey Cricket. But not a lot of room in there after you get the lights in. I know it's possible because I used to have one with lights AND sound.

Classic BSG Cylon voice circuit. Not a changer, but "By Your Command" and such, with warble.

Ooooh. . . how about some Boba Fett range finder LEDs, or his chest lights? It's something that's been done, but as you mentioned, a "low cost" alternative would be interesting to see.

A cheap set of chase lights for the Jupiter II (like a 4' version...)
It can't be that hard but the kits for these seem to be $80 and more.

I would second the threepio eyes, though that would be like a lunch break, no doubt.

The trooper amp sounds cool too.

There is a long list of R2 lights and effects that would be appreciated as well as motor controllers, sound boards, and for the B9ers... sound activated neon, board for LEDs to blink in the brain, chest lights, ear spinners, torso lights. I would love all of it on one board.
:D

Lights and sounds for a Star Trek 3 Tricorder.
Same for a Wrath of Khan Communiator.

A real time voice changer that isn't just Vader but something that could be programmable via the pc. Mabye with a downloadable capability like via USB.

Also a reconfigurable sound FX board that you could load up via USB to use with different costumes. Like if you had an Ironman costume and wanted sounds you would just download them into the board then have programmable buttons for that and then change it up to do a ghostbuster costume etc.

No offense to other makers of electronics out there like Hyperdyne. They make excellent stuff but it is not practical to buy them for $400 a piece when you need to do mutiple costumes.

Lights and sounds for a Star Trek 3 Tricorder.

seconded.

Folks, you realize that no amount of electronics is going to turn your voice into James Earl Jones', right? :)

how about a very cheap sound FX card for custom lightsabers? there is some great stuff out there, but they are so expensive. i just want an affordable alternative to hasbro lightsaber cards. :\

I want a good light and sound board for blasters. One that fits inside 1 1/4" width.

Inputs:
* 1 line for power on/off.
* 1 line for blast/stun switch
* 1 line for trigger
* Computer connector or card slot for exchangable sounds.

Outputs:
* Speaker
* 2 scope LEDs for blast/stun (4.5V so I can drive a blue or white one)
* Blast laser (4.5V)
* Blast Flash (a camera flash)
* Blast LED (enough current to drive a Luxeon 1W)
* Stun LED (enough current to drive a Luxeon 1W)

When the blaster is switched from "off" to "blast" or "stun", a "power on" sound is made and the "scope LED" for that mode lights up. The scope LED stays on until the module is switched off or the mode is switched.

In "Blast mode" when the trigger is pulled, the flash goes off and a "blast" sound is played instantly.
The "blast laser" and "Blast LED" are on for one second and then they is switched off, even if the trigger is still being held. The "Blast LED" should be optional.

In "Stun mode" when the trigger is pulled, the "Stun LED" blinks five times and a "stun" sound is played.

The sounds should be replaceable, with a memory card or connector to a computer.
It should be possible to have more than one sound for "blast" or "stun", and the module should alternate between them and not play the same sound twice in a row.
