What do you guys think of my ESB/ROTJ Emperor Display?? NEW PICS ADDED

Re: What do you guys think of my ESB/ROTJ Emperor Display??

Gooooood.....

...The waffle pattern looks pretty spot on compared to my robe made by Clothears.... Don't you think..?

I just went back and saw your writing underneath the pic. That's really weird because yesterday, even before seeing your thread here, I came across the website for Clothears; I'd never heard of them before...

I like the pics of the Emperor when displayed with special lighting. That surely looks like ROTJ Emperor. Very cool!

The entire thing is impressive but that cane is inspiring. I might have to try that. Do you still have the file template you used for shape and size? I'd love to have a copy.

I do still have the files I used for a template... I lightened the side view up so I could see the details better... these files should be actual size when printed...

And thanks guys for all the complements... Makes it all worth while!

No no... Those are the reference pictures I used for the shape of the cane... the printout you see in this picture under the cane in progress was the printout from the above file.. I never printed the front view, just used it for a visual reference...

Is this indeed the same cane from your photos with the lifesize Emperor?

I sculpted it with sculpy and made it a little fat so I could sand/carve it after I baked it ( which I did with a heat gun), I thought it would look more authentic if I did it that way for some reason.... but the sanding and carving after it was hardened was the most tedious part, If I was to do it over again I would probably just sculpt the details thin and not rely so much on carving after it was hardened.... :facepalm
0328021151_zpsb6b43340.jpg....Thats how fat it was before I sanded/carved it back a bit... I should have taken an "after" photo before painting it black... but I didnt.. :( And the after photo I posted on the first page doesnt really show all the details that well... I'll try to take some better photos of the completed cane in a bit and see if I can get any better details with my new camera... :thumbsup

Well dont know how much better these are... its really difficult to capture all the curves in the black paint... but heres what I got...

Ah, I understand now. :) Nice work on your reproduction.

I believe the cane shown in the photo in your link is probably the earliest version of the Emperor cane I can remember on this forum. It was made by GuntahKela and I owned one at one time. It was a really well-made prop. Later the Master Replicas version came out and what a disappointment that one was... It was supposedly correct in the technical sense that it came from the Lucasfilm Archives, but it was not the screen used version we all know and love.

Anyway, thanks for all your info and photos. You've made a nice prop! :)
