An anonymous bidder paid $898,420 for Darth Vader's helmet worn in The Empire Strikes Back, the 1980 sequel to the original Star Wars movie. The auction was held Thursday in Los Angeles.

It might be for a piece from Star Wars. However, I think (so take that for what it's worth), the Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers have sold for higher.

The only identification proven on screen ties it to the one scene where is was repurposed for ROTJ. But the helmet is clearly an ESB style and it is was definitely used during the production of ESB. However I havent seen any on screen identification for it yet. I've been wanting to figure out which scenes it was used for, but I've been super busy.

Ah thanks...thats what I wanted to know.Yes they used an ESB style helmet for the scene before Luke removes the mask.
But it is repainted?Looks a lot more weathered on the moviescene?Look on the nose.
