Wet & Wild Custom Blaster Contest

I'm totally in!
Thanks Shylaah for organizing this :D

Question:
Does the completed blaster still need to be a functional water blaster?

Hey Shylaah,
I am happy to donate a prize. I am not sure what to donate, though. Feel free to look around the gallery on my DA site. If you see something that you think works for this contest, let me know & it's yours.
Cheers,
Brash

Nope, it does not have to function after the mod, it's just the beginning base piece.

25 bucks equates to 25 pounds right? Or do we have to use currency conversions?

P.s i Love brashsculptors hand of doom

Well, hmmmm, maybe not!!?
I need help on this one guys!
What do y'all think?
Currency Converter for $25 USD

For the Dollar Store contest it was about getting 20
"things" as opposed to an actual worth/value of 20$....

Maybe we should be using the currency conversion for
this contest since there will be USDs, GBPs, Euros--
anyone else in the contest have a different currency than
those three?

Shylaah

clearly 25 quid would be better than 16 but in the interests of fairness it might be better. I know this has created more trouble and messing about than the dollar store idea but the concept is a winner. A nice budget but with the ability to shop where we like. Thanks Shylaah

As mentioned earlier brashsculptor is donating a prize to the contest.

Her site is:
Brashsculptor on deviantART
and here:
The Gallery of Wonderful Things from which to pick!

The winner who chooses this prize will be allowed to pick whichever awesome item they wish from the gallery. A Halo CQB helmet is about to be added to the list. The prize will be an unpainted kit for you to finish!

Many thanks brashsculptor, this certainly ups the ante and makes me wish I was eligible to submit an entry!!!

Shylaah

No problem,
Glad I could help. Feel free to choose whatever you like. I have made nearly everything on my site. However, Mal's pistol is my MOD of Bill's kit (Wilco models). If you choose that as the prize, I'll need to get an ok from him to mold it.
That kit inspired me to make some Firefly/Serenity goodies of my own, so I am working on 3 guns including VERA. But they are nowhere near done. :(
Cheers,
Brash

I must say, that's one of the best prizes I've ever seen offered for one of these contests! Lots to choose from there!

Shylaah, one final question from me:
I looked at many stores today and all I could find were the super small pea-shooters. Do they count as water guns? they have a barrel and a trigger and a handle, but are kinda small =(

*EDIT*
Never mind I reread the rules. Since I can use any base blaster w/o cutting into the budget I should be fine. Sheesh the complexity of the rules just means the end results must be freakn awesome XD

I'm in - tentatively. Since I'll be away most of September, I won't have much time to devote to construction - but what the hey! In the spirit of fun, why not! :)

This is a picture of the gun I'm planning to use as my base. To my knowledge it's not based on any existing design that I'm aware of. Thought I'd post it up here just in case it was and I'm not aware of it. If I'm wrong please feel free to burst my bubble. I'd rather not work on it for 3 weeks and THEN find out it wasn't fair game haha.

That looks pretty generic to me.
I give it a G for go!
As long as the base piece it's not something that was specificly designed and packaged as a replica, you're good................

Shylaah

Sweet! If anybody else wants to use it as a base it's made by a company called Saturator and is the model known as Disruptor. They look to be fairly high quality battery operated water guns. The one I'm snagging off Amazon is only $15.

Here's a link to a commercial. They have removable clips as well. They also make a model that resembles an AK and one that looks like a Sig 556. I imagine using one of those wouldn't break the rules as they're scaled for kids' hands and not full size and they're not based on any movie, sci-fi, or comic guns, etc.

A battery operated blaster? WoW!!! I was always told water and electricity don't mix! Now I want an electric water hose :lol

I think I may have unsuitably applied the word 'custom' for this contest. The straight up dictionary meaning of custom is something 'made to order', and isn't really applicable to these 'custom' contests.

My idea of 'custom' in this contest is an original design idea by the entrant as opposed to being a replica or largely based on something that already exists.

This is the RPF and replica is the first word there :), but this contest should be a time to step outside the copy-it box and build something like you would have done it--something totally your own! And that was why the rule that the finished entry not look like anything else that exists!!

Shylaah

Brashsculptor, I must say....Your offering up is absoutly wonderful, your items look absoutly fantastic. :D
