Were any of the Star Wars blasters built from an MP-40? possible custom blaster

Were any of the Star Wars blasters built from a WWII MP-40 SMG? I don't think any of them were but I'm no expert

but given the penchant they seemed to have for German guns in the original trilogy

DL44 - Mauser
DLT19 - MG34
Rebel A280 - MP44

I thought maybe there might have been one based on an MP40 or at least there should have been :lol

reason I'm asking is that I was walking past a market stall on my way back to work at lunch & I saw an airsoft MP-40 for under £10 & though why not,

being the UK it comes in family friendly dayglo orange :lol

Size wise it looks pretty good & I like the fact it breaks down a bit, not sure why it has a scope rail but it may come in useful

I figured that it might make a fun start point for a custom Star Wars style blaster build, with the folding stock etc it looks like it would lend itself to that kind of classic trilogy look with some added greeblies,

see where it goes

A very interesting concept. Do it up right and you'll have a most interesting variant for sure.

Not really made much in the way of progress with this not really sure what way I wanted to go with it,

because its just for fun It's another project where I don't really want to spend any money on parts so seeing what I have laying around,

One of the things I like about the ANH Blaster props was how little they actually did to the base guns, the E11 basically just had the T-track & scope rail & the DL-44 just had the Flash hider, scope & Grill (bit simplistic but you know what I mean)

I would like to try & do the same sort of thing with this & not over do it too much.

I have a doopydoos resin ESB flash hider left over from another build, it was solid so I got the biggest drill bit I had & drilled it through to fit over the MP40 barrel, could be like a giant DL-44 :lol

could use the original sight which looks a bit like the ones on the Rebel Hoth Blaster, but I quite like the ESB FH

hopefully getting a resin M38 & some piston greeblies from Doopydoos soon which I'd like to use on this

thinking I'll keep it with the short barrel & exposed thread

started filling in the screw holes with Plasto

see where it does

I love that! What are your plans vis-a-vis the magazine? The MP-38 and MP-40 are 2 of my all-time fave SMGs...

A suggestion: Perhaps the mag receiver doesn't need to hold a mag but could instead provide the basis for an under-barrel grip or concussion grenade launcher... ;-)

Just a thought...

Still thinking about this but not actually making much progress :lol

been playing around with scopes (Star Wars Blaster's gotta have scopes)

got a couple of spare resin Doopydoos scopes

obviously an M38 or M19 would be more OT but I quite like this big fat Airsoft scope I found,

may go for more than 1 scope??

I've been collecting various V8 greeblies etc. to use

keep getting distracted with other projects (or using the parts):lol

Maybe I'm imagining this but this rather long gun looks really familiar....I thought there was some mystery gun picture floating around - maybe something on a hoth trooper, that looked like this?

Forget what I just said - Where I've seen this was....I think it was like a pre-production photo? Like a prototype blaster? It had a long, triangular stock like that, like a front heavy gun. It was black...with all these greeblies on it..right!???

Ok, so I've made zero progress here been too cold & wet to think about doing any painting

so at the risk of derailing my own thread a little my bb gun stall guy has given me a bunch of other guns & parts to use

once again they're not working as bb guns but I don't mind,

I'm not sure if I'll use anything for this project but I'm sure there is stuff I can use for something

the pistol looks kinda like a Robocop auto 9 to me (kinda) :lol

I guess most guns have been used I some TV show or film

I really like the Beretta Storm CX4 looks pretty close to the one in Battlestar Galactica so I think I'll just paint it up :lol

think the revolver is a colt python?

lots of new parts to play with anyway

getting to where I might have to say no next time he has something for me as I'm running out of space, maybe not I can't say no to free prop parts :lol

Been thinking about this again & playing about with parts,

I've painted up a bunch of M19 & M38 scopes with this in mind but I kinda like the scope that came with the storm?

I kinda want to keep it fairly simple, just a few subtle-ish greeblies

might cut down the mag (like on the E-11's) or maybe add a 2nd scope as suggested, I still want the folding stock to work though

going to try & do something with this soon :lol

This gave me some inspiration - picked up a toy MP5 at the local Dollarama. I think I can make an awesome pistol out of it. Thanks.

I really want to be making progress with this, but I keep getting distracted :lol

got sick of looking at it in orange & decided to at least get it primed

I think just getting painted grey it's looking better,

will start playing around with some greeblies & maybe cut down the mag

How about a triple long scope configuration similar to Chewie's bowcaster. The top needs something. I still thing a small scope mounted on the bottom of the mag section would be cool. Or maybe you could merge in another weapon underneath (the way some weapons have a shotgun or grenade launcher) but in this case' it could be something like an ion blaster.

I should probably just let this project die :lol

Not getting very far very fast with it

Ive added a few greeblies I had laying around to the mp40, I deliberately tried to keep them to a minimum, when I look at ANH props they didn't see seem to go overboard on most of them & most kept the basic look of the base guns

i cut down the magazine a bit

needs lots of weathering & to sort out the scopes at some point

Looks cool. What is the color on the last pics?I have a MP-40 Softair in my basement, too. And I think this paint looks very near to the originallook from WWII.

This is just laying around in the garage & not getting finished

Weathered it a bit & added some scope rings

my thinking now is that maybe a singlepoint scope would look cool

tried it with one of the scopes I'd bought for my GK just to see how it would look

i like how most of the OT blasters actually didn't have much added & that's what I wanna go for

admittedly it's all a bit pointless but for some reason I won't let it die :lol
