Welder question

I hope this is the right forum, it was the closest thing I could find. I am looking at investing in a welder to do some minor metal crafting form my props if necessary. I am torn on a few points and I would enjoy others input on the topic if possible. I want to be able to weld aluminum but I cant decide between Mig and Tig. I am also torn between the Northern Tool brand or a Hobart brand Mig welder. I have seen Hobart gear but never used it whereas I have welded inch thick rebar with a Northern Tool buzz box. Any help you guys can offer would be awesome.

TIG if you want to plan to weld mostly aluminum or stainless steel. MIG is more versatile but setting up to weld aluminum will cost more then $500 extra for a spool gun and the welding technique is also different.
