Weird prop crossovers

Hey gang,

I was watching "They Live" (with Rowdy Roddy Piper) this evening and noticed a really strange prop crossover - the alien guards were all carrying Ghostbuster PKE meters as tracking/communication devices. They looked to be exact copies of the PKE with working arms and chasing lights, not just some close-enough wannabes. There were multiples of the meter so I'm assuming these were built just for this movie (as opposed to leftovers from the GB production).

So what are some of the more really bizarre prop crossovers you've seen in other movies?

Not very weird, but Bruce Campbell in a movie within The Majestic with Jim Carrey, holding the fertility idol.
Although seeing all the sterlings in the full version of Superman kinda shook me up.

The TOS Star Trek tricorder visual display head on the gun from the movie Laser Blast.

On the tour of the Warner Brother studios in the prop and wardrobe area they had misc piles of this and that in different wood boxes just piled up. You could look inside and see different little handheld props from 10 or so of your favorite scifi movies. I dont know if this was just set out for people to look at on the tour, or if that was how they actually stored these props. Kinda looked like a smorgasborg of props.

There is a movie with Carmen Electra fighting troops armed with Kenner Stormtrooper rifles painted silver. I have not seen it, only screenshots.

Beka's gun in Andromeda, based on the PK-D.

The Naboo Guards in Star Wars Episode 1 using blasters based on the same gun as the troops in Spaceballs are using ... but maybe that one was intentional?

This is well known, but since it hasn't been mentioned yet: the armor from Starship Troopers has been whored out to a number of shows and movies. It's in several episodes of Firefly, most notibly "The Train Job".

I almost forgot. In and around the late 80's/early90's made some master pattern parts for RACs old LIS 1st season gun. One of the parts I made was the rear square sight. That rear sight was recast and used on the Cardassian tricorder as the tricorders visual display. :lol

I KNEW IT.

I watched that last weekend and thought those were Stormtrooper blasters.

Funny the idol was mentioned. I spotted it as well.

One of the Spy kids movies 3 I think has the 2 kids walking into a room. The girl picks up the idol looks at it, shrugs her shoulders, then tosses it. (I bought it for my kids when it came out)

The massive 'Bazookoid' weapon prop from the Red Dwarf American pilot also appeared in Babylon 5 used by Micheal Garibaldi in a dream/flashback sequence and Star Trek Voyager in a Hirogen Hunter ship's armoury.

Heh, incredible. Any chance of some screencaps? :)

Isn't the chest that Obi Wan takes the Skywalker saber out of in Star Wars the same chest Lex uses to hide the kryptonite in Superman? Or are they just similar?

Well, I don't own the movie on dvd, but I may be able to convince my buddy with netflix to put it on his list. May take a day or two to get, but we'll see what happens.

It's kinda cool to see the sterlings in their full, unmodified get up. They actually make quite a few appearances in the older movies. I guess they were realy popular back then.

Here's another prop making the rounds - the trinagle vented, super shotgun. It was in Blade: Trinity, some goofy Sci-Fi original movie about space vampires, an episode of Stargate Atlantis and an episode of Eureka.

I've read that in a number of places, but I've not seen any evidence. It may be truth, or just any Internet rumor.

In the "Best of Both Worlds" episode of TNG, the device they use to un-colorize Picard/Locutus is the Oscillation Overthruster from "Buckaroo Banzai." (Michael Okuda's wife is a huge Banzai fan.)

In many of Joss's shows there have been several props show up from and used in different Sci-Fi movies. The only ones that I can think of off the top of my head are the knives from Buffy. The knife the mayor gives to Faith was the same one, Gil's Jackal, that Tom Hardy uses in ST: Nemesis. Season 3 was filmed and aired before Nemesis was released so I guess it would be a case of the same TV prop used in a movie. The second is Faith's knives in Season 7. Sword and Stone originally made the knife for STNG.
Sword and Stone
They later made a second knife based of the STNG one for MIB 2. The knives were very similar but the MIB knife had a ball attached to it on the guard and the handle had texture added to it so it appeared to be wrapped. The knife did not appear in MIB 2, but did show up in the final season of Buffy. The knives are the same but Faith's has a lager ball. I know there are more but I cannot think of them. I think the Hunga Munga for season 2 of Buffy made an appearance as a weapon in Firefly. I also think that there was discussing of a Vader part showing up in Angel.

:lol It also appears in at least two other TNG episopes and a movie:

1. Pen Pals: As the spectral analyzer in the geology lab
2. 11001001: Wesley Crusher uses it as an isolinear chip reader

Star Trek: First Contact: Hanging between Riker and Geordi during the flight of the Phoenix.

I know its been in several other TNG and DS9 episodes but I can't remember which ones at the moment.

the sword and stone site (awesome site btw) has a link to a "soul stealer scythe" that looks like it showed up in the first season of angel.

holy crap they have the plexiglass sword from charmed, sweet.....

im scared to write and ask them how much it would cost to make one. something tells me itll be WAYYYYY outta my range :lol
