Watching The Mist (2007) - Walking Dead Cast

The reason I liked the ending is because I felt it was actually *more* King than the original. Sure, sometimes he tosses in a relatively happy / hopeful ending (relative compared to the horror of the story), but more often than not he just brutalizes the hell out of his characters right up to and through the ending.

Unlike the novella, the film ending painted the situation as a nightmare the main character was NEVER going to wake up from, despite the threat of the Mist being gone. That's horror.

Here is what I don't understand

ok so there are 5 people and 4 bullets. Why not just do two at a time with one of the bullets?

Because there's no guarantee that the second person would actually die from that.

Stephen has actually come out and said he wishes he'd thought to end the story like Darabont did. That's pretty high praise, in my opinion.

I would like to see a story/movie focusing on the government agency King created to research and deal with this sort of thing. They caused the problems in the mist, apparently had a hand in Captain Tripps. No matter what reality in the King universes you go to they're there making a mess of things.

I bought that movie years ago and decided to watch it last year and tripped out when they went in the grocery store and had the walking dead girls. I didn't remember that many actors were in it

I was walking on the southern edge of central park in NYC one pre-dawn early morning and a knee high mist was pouring out of the park's street. I felt like I had stumbled into a potential spin off of the film!
I managed to see the film's NYC premier at one of the nicest and largest theaters, the Ziegfeld, with King in attendance. You should have heard the audience react to that ending! I think no matter what you may think of it, it's successful because it managed to elicit an incredibly strong reaction from the audience, especially telling for an audience who has been already soaking in dread and shocks for the running time.

The original ending was better and Stephen King is wrong.

Wow, that's a pretty ballsy statement.

One of my favorite movies. Ending was perfect. Still think about it whenever its foggy out.

We had a three day stretch recently where we had thick fog that didn't even come close to thinning out during the day. I commented to one of my co-workers that if I see giant bug things start running around, I was heading for the hills and she was on her own. :lol

We get a fog like that down in town during the spring and fall when the water on the river is a different temp, the entire valley is a thick blanket. It's already spooky enough down there at 2am doing laundry as there are times no cars go past then you get the fog. I keep expecting zombies lol.

I spotted a fifth Walking Dead cast member: Juan Pareja, who played Morales in Season One of the Walking Dead, also played a guy named Morales in The Mist.

I realize this is a big ol' necro, most likely by a bot, but why was the casting a surprise to anyone?

Both The Mist and The Walking Dead are Frank Darabont (Darkwood Productions) productions. Jeffrey DeMunn get a part in everything Darabont does; The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption(both also King pieces), etc. The Majestic(2001) had both DeMunn and Laurie Holden. You might also notice that William Sadler was in The Mist, The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption.
