Thank you Wiggs! I've actually looked over all of Sylgian's images multiple times through the build. His build has been a great inspiration, and so has yours! I think I'm starting to get the hang of it now... I bought a bunch of electrical piping that I can heat and form to create the internal skeleton. It's waaaaay better than my previous method, and I think I can finally get this thing properly rigged.
If I do get it rigged properly, I'll make sure to take tons of pictures of the inside so people can see exactly how it's put together. That way hopefully I can save someone else from the headache I've had for the past two weeks.

As for your question about the helmet. Yup! Just sanding, caulking and plasti-dipping! Since foam is thick, you don't really have to worry about sanding through the material, so I just went nuts with the sander until it was as smooth as I could get it, then it's just a matter of caulking all the seams several times until you're satisfied. I've seen your build dude, those seams will be completely invisible once you sand it and caulk it. I'll race you to the finish!

I'm using spray plasti-dip. Seems to work pretty good and gives a nice even coat.
I'm gonna show up at various cons here in Sweden, but I doubt I'll run into you here! Haha!

Today I kept on working with the electrical pipes to reinforce the structure of the suit. I've also added two "hooks" that the shoulders attach to. Seems to work okay for now, but still needs tweaking. Here are some pictures of the torso, both inside and outside.

Quick question! What glue is best to use when attaching the plastic tubes to the inside of the EVA foam? The hot glue is very iffy... Sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't. Keep in mind that most brand names used in the US don't mean much to me since I'm in Sweden.

I just used a whole bunch of hot glue on mine. I think of hot glue as low temp welding. I "spot welded" the frames in place then went back and glued a fillet bead on both sides of the tube to cement it in place. Couldn't be more solid! I had to run wires inside the foam later on (lack of planning) which meant cutting holes in the foam around the frame, and it did not want to let go. It's strong enough I could strap the second PVC frame to it with hose clamps and the whole thing remains solid. Just my 2¢.

I guess I'll just be more generous with the hot glue! I just bought a lot more plastic tubing, so in a few days I'll see if I can't get everything reinforced.

I thought about the supports for the chest armor and decided to redo it. Here are the new supports!

Put the whole thing together now! I think I still need to add some more styrofoam to the feet so the "stilts" get a bit taller. For now I think it's alright. Next up, I'm gonna attach some shoes to the stilts so I can walk around properly. Also need to add some suspenders to keep the bottom half of the torso up. Here's a picture of the whole thing put together... Sadly there's no-one in it at the moment.

Fitted the ventilation hose thingies to cover up the knee joints! Looks really good if I may say to myself. Right now I'm having some problems figuring out how to attach my shoes to the feet, but I think I should have it sorted later today. Soon I'll do a video of a walking test! I'm getting a bit excited. ^^ I still have to redo the shoulders since they look a bit warped, but that's not a huge deal.

Here's a new video! I fixed the feet!!! Yaaay!!! Now I can move on to the upper body. I'm relatively happy with the way it feels to walk around now. As you can see, I'm walking much more confidently and it doesn't feel like anything is about to break.

I'll post shots of how the foot works later once I've got everything 100% figured out.

I still think I need a better way to attach the giant shoulders... They tend to flop all over and don't really move in a natural way. Come with suggestions, guys! I need your help on this. If anyone else has done something similar, how did you attach the shoulders, and how did you make them move properly?

I looked through the thread and didn't see a picture showing the inside of your shoulders, so without knowing what you have going on there...

What I would do is create a piece in foam that fits your actual shoulder/arm snugly, like it can be slipped/strapped on and it won't move around on your arm. Then you can use foam as a spacer between that and the Space Marine shoulder, moving it up, down, or out as far as you need for it to look right. Glue it all solid when you're happy with the look. Then the SM shoulder will move naturally with your arm. It'll still be a challenge as far as mobility, just because of the bulk, but something like that would hedge your bets.

I actually have pictures of both the "hooks" that are attached to the chest armor, and the inside of the shoulder bells, The pictures are a bit further up on this page.
I was thinking of doing something like that because I've seen Pilerud do something similar to his shoulders. Everyone does seem to have their own unique solution though, so I guess we'll see what I can do. Thank you for the advice! Any help is as always greatly appreciated.

Ah, I see. I think you could still do that, or at least make a strap that goes around your arm, if you want to keep the hook attachment. The goal is to get the shoulder to move with your arm, correct?

quickly threw together these mini-shoulders that will go on the inside of the big shoulders and hopefully rest on the bicep armor. Now I just need to create spacers that create some distance between the outer and the inner shoulders.

Here's some more progress! I scrapped the "mini shoulder" idea and simply padded the shoulders a bit more on the inside. The whole thing can be worn now and it feels like a milestone. Next up I'm going to add some more details and trims to the whole armor, then it's time to start sanding, and after that I'll start work on the backpack. Should be interesting! I used bolts similar to the earlier pictures you showed, but they didn't have a head on them. I drilled a hole into the mini shoulder mount, and reinforced it with some aluminium rail. Then the bolts just went in the holes, and the shoulders rested on them. The movement was great, and the pads could just be slipped on and off as needed. The bolts were also long enough that the shoulders couldn't fall off by accident. Keep at it heretic.

Thanks! I really love your version of the costume. I think the shoulders are good enough as they are now. The movement is good and there is no way they're falling off by accident, The mini shoulder idea would probably have been much more neat, but at this point I'm just happy it works! : D Today I will be adding some trim to the torso and some details to the cod piece. Maybe some other stuff if there is time. My hockey gloves will arrive in the mail in a few days, so I'm really happy about that.
