War machine 1st attempt

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

What scale did you used on yours? I found the high def chest but its all messed up, i have to sit and edit the parts layout and work on the scale,i printed one but it was even smaller than. My previous one
I used 1.69 on the chest

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Ok i used 1.64 for mine, looks like it will work, now i have to get it cut :)

well didn't do much today..reinforced my chest it looked like out was sagging...it looks great now..my son wanted to take a picture with war machine..lol...I'm off tomorrow so ill be doing more cutting

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

I had the same problem with the sag.. leaving such a huge pep piece around with no resin on it was almost a disaster here! I think I salvaged it, but talk about a harsh lesson...
Glad you saved it! Resin it ASAP my brother! BTW, your work is looking awesome!

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Yeah you really shouldn't leave the un-resined paper sitting around. It's going to deform over time.

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Well guys I tried the peping the gun..its a a pain in the you know what..lots of movable parts..well I wanted to try it out to see how or would look and for reference..i will be doing it out of.pvc I want to put the motor in..well here's how it look s haven't finished or but that's how or looks at the moment....you think that's the right size? Does it look ok?i know its not great but its just for reference..i found another arm that's more accurate than that one...

UPDATED ON 8/31/12 for those who want to pep this

Looks awesome Don!:cool
My only concern with what you have done so far is that by not having resin on the peps to seal them, your hard work may eventually be prone to sagging and warping. I know from very near tragic personal experience... unless you live somewhere really really really dry like Arizona or Denver... It just looks so good, I would hate to hear you had to rebuild pieces.:cry
Word.
I would love to hear more about the gun pep!:)

I'm in luck then because I live in Yuma az...lol..temps here are 110... My concern was glue remelting...lol..i had put my pep in garage when family came I realized I used hot glue I took it out right away..lol..my home is at 79 average so or will be ok...i think my chest was sagging because I had the helmet weight on it..ireinforced it it way better I lift one side and it doesn't feel like its collapsing..forgot this picture

Looks ok

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

The humidity is more your enemy than temperature. But even in a low humidity environment, I'd still be really concerned about the un-resined parts warping over time. Paper isn't really a stable medium.

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Looks amazing man. Good luck in finishing! I'd love to see it when it's finished!

That's so True..at first at had it laying on one side for a day because it tipped over couldn't get it to shape until I added some more pieces to it then put it up on the pvc stand..hopefully I will resin the upper body by this coming weekend..term I will pep the bottom..i actually want to finish the other elbow and hands before I resin..

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

I mean it's your build, do it in whatever order you'd like. I can definitely understand wanting to do it in "stages", IE getting it ALL built before you resin and fiberglass it. But I think doing it that way is really going to bite you in the ass if you wait to long with letting the pieces sit around. It might not look or feel like you're making as much progress when you build and resin a single piece at a time, but the final product will only benefit from it.

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

My process is pep, resin, store, pep, resin store, then when i have all parts with resin ill proceed to use bondo and adding detail :)

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Well I still wont be able to resin until weekend when im off....but it good idea so I wont have to redo parts..im new at this so any opinions are greatly appreciated..thanks..

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

Hit the attachment button and look for the file, then attach, and you should get it

Re: War machine 1st attempt...

So i decided to finish the rest of the gun..i want to make it motorized..but i would need to make it with pvc maybe unless i can fiberglass this one n will get really hard..but anyways i went to Walmart and found these 5/8 craft stocks for 95 cents each..i will trim them down but hers a rough estimate of how it will look..beats pepping the barrels....i want to finish it after I'm done with whole armor i week try the guns again.. Ill finish the details later... If you never pepped this gun before ours kinds odd cool it actually rotates up n down and side to side and right to left...

i edit this added another picture here out is fixed now i have to trim the extra..i will try to resin parts this weekend...
