Viper or Raptor pilot for D*CON?

I'm not sure which to go with, Viper or Raptor pilot. I know the flight suit is the same with just a different patch or patches. And the helmet is the same except reversing the colors. I already made the helmets, just have to buy and modify the flightsuit. I'm probably leaning towards a raptor pilot because not too many folks went that route plus I like the look of the gold helmet over the silver helmet. If the cost gets to be looking too high I may just whimp out and do Romo Lampkin up this year and invest in the pilot for next year. Any thoughts? Here's my helmets:

my vote is neither. Dana and I geared this stuff up for Comic Con - within the first hour we were playing hot potatoe with the helmet because it was so bulky to carry around.

dragon con will be a hot one this year like every year. so unless your planing on putting 3 fans in the helmet don't do it.

slightly off topic, but where did you find your "armor" that goes over the flight jacket? I've spoken to a few ppl down Tampa way that all tell me it's pretty damned expensive. But I wouldn't mind doing a pilot's outfit without the helmet to juggle around.

And I agree with the heat comment. Last year I wore a Firefly ish outfit. Not canon and nobody in particular, just a 'verse style outfit with an unlined brown duster and even then it was miserable unless I spent most of my time indoors, which made it mildly bearable.

I haven't purchased it yet, but I know the source. Once you get it, it appears too bright and shiny and has to be toned down and aged to look more like leather. Any way the source that knows where to get it and he'll even modify it for you is dsw_777 on this forum or you can check out the TCF (The Colonial Fleet Quorum) under costume discussion. Also try scifihero.net under Galacticahero.net. This same guy is one of the moderators there also under dsw_777. He is the nicest/coolest guy which you'll find he has a great passion for BSG. He also has one of my helmets so I know him quite well through online chat.

The flight suit vests are made out of leather with the rubber matting material as an accent.

Yuppers. At least the suede side of the leather and rubber matting- We've found some of this stuff off of scales since we don't have the resources to make a 100 yard custom run.
