Vintage Don Post Vader Helmet

The question is, should I fix it up so it's accurate aside from the size, or should I leave it alone for it's Vintage-ness? :wacko

But that adds the question: Where could I get the tusks and the grating for the chin and mouth vents for fairly cheep, and should the lenses be replaced? :ninja

And lastly, this is an ANH lid right? I'm not 100% sure, but I'm going based on the pointy brow, the silver tusks, and the smaller chin vent. :angel

Again, thank you for this helmet Fusa Nova. :love

I would mod it. I think kurtyboy has screens and tusks. Maybe join the Sithlord detachment. You will get alot of answers there.

In my opinion you should leave it as it is. The DP mask is already highly inaccurate but the thing just has a certain charm and nostalgia about it that I love. :thumbsup

I modded the hell out of one of those a while back. Honestly I should have used the time and money on something better. The best Ive seen is one by CS McLaren and another by Gypsyboy, but those are total resculps (made for female Vaders). Id check their builds if you want to mod it.

I say leave it and enjoy its vintage power.:thumbsup

Well that's two for vintage and one for mod it, Amish, thanks, I was wondering while I was in the shower if there was a sithlord detachment or not because I thought i remembered seeing something about it on the 501st, I'll join and take a look into there ideas too.

also, I sent Kurtyboy a PM just incase as he said in his sales thread that he is down to his last strip.

@Naz I'll only be doing the whole suit if I fix up this helmet, if I leave it the way it is I don't plan to look into a Vader costume, I'm more of a TK and TB sorta guy :D So unless I'm planning on complimenting the helmet if it's screen accurate, I'm saving for that.

Like I said, more of a Stormtrooper and Bikerscout sort of guy, I like Vader, but not really enough to go out of my way and buy another helmet, unless the Rubies DeLuxe is $20 I'm not into it enough, plus, isn't Rubie like the worst of the worst for accuracy?

This is the ONE and ONLY exception. While it is still all out of whack. It is essentially a DP CA helmet in cheap plastic with warping, crap lenses, and no paintjob. But can WAY more easily be turned into a close to SA piece.

The DP you have is basically the kids cheapie. Nothing wrong with it. That is just what it is.

The real Vader helmet could probably fit that inside it's facemask.

Thanks for making he feel like I have a small head, :D

But in all seriousness, thanks for the information, right now I'm leaning more towards modifying the helmet for some reason. No idea why though.

/\ Yea, that's the vibe I've been getting from the sithlords, that and "Join us, buy a Rubies Vader DeLuxe and start becoming a Vader."

:D

They are really nice though, and who knows, maybe I will, or maybe my Starkiller can get accepted when it's finished.

You've got to not pull yourself in so many directions. I used to do the same thing. Focus on one thing. Starkiller or Vader or a biker scout. Pick one, work on it for a while. If a great deal comes up on a vader item or biker scout piece, pick those up. I've been working on my vader slowly for just over a year and I have a really quality piece. I know it's hard being 17, but that's actually one of the best times to start building. Get a job and use some of your paycheck money. It's a lot easier to get into this hobby with money. Time and patience (and sadly, money) are the key elements usually to having a nice replica.

Hey Neo -

Happy New Year!

Be careful - I picked up a cheapie Vader helmet at a flea market, and thought it might be col to do Vader for Halloween. About $450 later I was prancing around scaring kids when they came to Trick-or-Treat (scored a Rubies Supreme for *really* low price!). But the Dark Side starts to get you: I started hanging out on the helmet thread, learning all about the variations in helmets, different makers, etc. I bought a more accurate chest box. I bought voice electronics. I'm adding better ventilation to the Rubies Supreme helmet...

Leave your DP as is. Don't open Pandora's box. ;)

Thanks War Pig

Based on the rpf and the Sith Detachments warnings, I'm just going to do what Jawa said, I'm going to looks for good deals and try to get a vader costume and a scout costume while working on my Starkiller Costume since that one is mostly things I have laying in the house.
