VINCENT Build

I am starting on a VINCENT robot build from THe Black hole movie. I have found some reference pics and the info on the almost full size toy prototype that was produced but would like to know if anyone else has attempted such a build?

Hey, Andy.

I've been working on a V.I.N.CENT. for about a month myself. I didn't think anyone else was as big a glutton for punnishment as myself. :D I'll try to post some pics of my progress in another thread, maybe we can compare notes. What I wouldn't give for a set of blueprints.

I would love to see that. I have my hands full with 2-1B at the moment. Hopefully it will be my first finished droid out of all the attemps at others.

What are you using for materials?

V.I.N.CENT. is my all time favorite movie robot...

I have lots of close-up pictures of the 1:1 scale original prop that used to be on display at the Planet Hollywood in Orlando, Florida.

The large scale MEGO robot would not be good to use as reference.

The small Kubrick V.I.N.CENT. action figure, that was released last year in Japan, is probably the most accurate toy that has ever been made.

I actually sent in copies of all my V.I.N.CENT. reference pictures to the Medicom Corp. in Japan right after the "Old" B.O.B. robot action figure came out in 2003. I was hoping the pictures might help the model makers with the small details. I have no idea if they used them or not.... but they did a great job on him.

The old MPC model kit isn't even that accurate.

I'd love to see progress pictures of your 1:1 scale project with build details.

I have a finished model of V.I.N.CENT I got from Ebay - 99.999999999% complete (one decal self destructed, the GLA front panel one). I can try to get somewhat decent pics of it- if you dont mind full sunlight. I did a test shot/ and a lil photoshop magic for a pic:

if you want some reference pics, I can take a few and post them.

Now... if ya *really wanna* have an inside view of Vincent's head- Get the black hole movie, And watch VERY carefully at the 5:16- 5:18 times on the video, right about when the black hole is discovered- Someone forgot to put his ear cover on, and you can see THRU his head, the translucent material they used for his eyes, the pupils, and something I am unsure of it's purpose at the back of his head- (looks like 2 screens of static, mirrors, something?) Some thing around 7:11, too. Interesting to note there is no support post thru his head, it seems.

In this case- the bigger the screen real estate, the better. I caught this on a 20" widescreen LCD monitor.

This is an awesome project. I've always felt that the Black Hole got a raw deal and VINCENT and BOB especially. I think they're some of the coolest robots ever, definitely in my top ten list.

Sorry to hijack, but I figure the folks I'm looking for might be subscribed to this thread.

I would like to touch base with those who are building a full-size V.I.N.Cent. from The Black Hole; either from Bill Morris' excellent castings or otherwise. I'm getting into the final stages with mine (below) and I'd like to see how others are tackling particular issues like lights, painting, etc.

PM me here, email me at mbradley3@cfl.rr.com, or respond to this thread: http://www.therpf.com/f9/whos-building-v-i-n-cent-229809/?highlight=v.i.n.cent.
