does any one know where i can find us military documents like military id, maps, ration card, Liberty Pass, etc. the kind of thing that the average G.I. would have.
or any kind of paper work from around this time.
any help would be great.
thanks
The best way to find these kind of items is do a Google search for Replica WWII/Vietnam war documents/paperwork, etc. Yahoo groups has several groups dedicated to recreating WWI, WWII paperwork, packaging etc (I found a ton of items there, all free). They're free to join, the ones I follow are: doc hoovie, prop replicas, repro paperwork, ww2 repro depot, wwiifree paperwork, and WWII paperwork.
Search for WWII/WWI/Vietnam re-enactor sites, many of them have quite a bit of free paperwork for these eras, as the re-enactors try to be as authentic as possible. Also, try the official military sites (Army, Navy Marines, etc) as many of them have historical sections which cover documents/propaganda/packaging, etc, plus you can often download current documents and use these as templates/reference material for creating your own.
There are a few sites who sell replica paperwork on CD. They'll package certain types together ag: WWII Britain, WWII USA, etc, usually a combination of both military & civilian items.
Finally, if your looking for packaging/ads/product wrappers from that era, just do a search for them, you'd be amazed what's online.
I know this mostly covers WWI/WWII, but there is stuff out there for Vietnam and Korea if you look.
Here's a site that I've used before:
