Velociraptor head

Hey guys the sculpt is finished and i've started molding it. Will have pics of the molding process tomorrow. Thanks again

Johnny

Very nice. Personally I'm not a fan of the JP3 raptors, something about that "crest" just doesn't sit well. However your sculpt looks great.

Hey guys ere are some pics of the molding process. Im making a two part thixotropic silicone mold with a fiberglass mother mold. I first split the mold into two halves with a metal shim and glued mold keys all along the shim. I used two sets of mold keys, one for the silicone to register with the silicone on the other side and an outer rim of keys for the fiberglass mother to correspond to the other side. I then painted on a thin thixotropic mix for a detail layer and then added a couple of thicker layers to reinforce in. When the outer layer is dry i will trim the excess silicone back to form a nice line and then fiberglass over the whole thing. When thats done i'm gonna remove the shim and repeat the other side. Oh and theres a couple of gaps in the shim that ill fill before fiberglassing.

Thanks for looking

P.S This is my first time doing a mold like this so if im doing anything wrong i'd really appreciate some info on it. Thanks

Hey guys have the mold completed and fiberglassed. Worked lovely. And i've got my first head out of it. No air bubbles and very little fixing up to be done. Will have pics of the head later on and ill be painting one today. Im going to be mounting this one on a mahogany base with a velociraptor engraved plaque and a Jurassic park relief logo.
Thanks again for looking

Sounds sweet bro !

Is the cast weighty at all ? I'm afraid of international shipping rates.. heh heh

That cast is about 3 or so kilo i imagine or maybe a bit more and with the base and that it probably would be touching 5 or more i'd think. . When i have this one finished withs its base and stuff which will be in a couple of days ill weigh it and give you the exact weight.

Here's some pics as promised. Its still in progress and not finished yet but its getting there. i decided on the jp3 female paint scheme. Sorry for the ****ty pics. they were taken with my crap phone as my ca,era isnt working again.Damn you HP photosmart. piece of ****. anyway it actually looks a lot better in person. My phone doesnt capture the small details and colour variance. hopefully ill take some proper pics tomorrow when the painting is finished. But here it is as of now. Thanks again for looking.
