Vellum/Parchment Printing?

Hoping someone here might know...

I'm making a repro of the Magna Carta. It measures approx. 16" x 20" and I'd like to have it printed on Parchment or Vellum.

Does anyone here know of a place that does this? I've searched the net and can't find anyone who prints poster size on the type of paper I want. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

:( Nobody's ever printed something large on parchment? If there's a good alternative to parchment or vellum I'd be open to that too...

There are parchment suppliers out there. I have some sheets as well if you would want to purchase a few. Kinko's has a large laser printer system that you can use as long as you have a good size graphic file to keep up the resolution.

I use craft paper sometimes. It has to be virgin paper not recycled. I do some maps and ancient docs with it.

Just an idea.

If you find a good paper resource company you can buy them by the sheet. Vellum id often found in pads ranging in various sizes . Check drafting places etc.

Thanks for the tips. My problem isn't finding parchment or vellum, it's finding a place that will print poster size on the material. I asked around at local print shops and none of them will print on paper you bring them (something about it voiding the warranty on their machines) and none of them supply the parchment (or anything remotely close) themselves...

I'm still holding out hope I'll find something as I'm not able to print it myself. Even if I could find a place that prints posters that aren't glossy I could age it to look good. So far everywhere I've looked only has semi-gloss or higher paper for that size of a print.

-Small print shops usually only (max)print at 11 x 17
-Printer's do runs with color separated plates and roll of paper, which is expense...unless it's a novel...nuff said.
-Go to a "sign shop"...ie, Quick Signs...they deal with larger prints that size...I never asked for vellum and it's very thin for printing thou but typical "gold ancient parchment" they should be able to do...
Good question BTW
Lemme know if you ever solve this issue...I'd like to know,I've been a book binder and printer for 10 years now and this is something I haven't done yet either. My home printer is 13 x 19 and I am now wanting to0 go bigger my self...
Thanks,
Ant

Hey check out my works website and send them an email. I work at Riverside Printing down in NC. Im pretty sure we may have the capabiltiy to do something like this, we print literally everything. I work in the mailing department, so i don't know all that goes into the different presses and paper types. But heres our website. I can't say how much it will cost, but id figure id throw this out as an option for you.

yeah and smaller shops tend to do more. I will often buy bristol pads and carry them to a local shop and they can run it through 13 x 19 or any size really. Once you get a relationship going with a place . they will do whatever you need.
