Hey gang, I know there has been a few threads about this in the post, but I was wondering if it was ever dicide what the finish is on the frunt sections of the saber. (buy all the Hex bolts.) I know some used to think it was re-chromed, other thought it was chrome tape, etc. Does anyone know yet, what it really was.

What version are you trying to make?

Personally I don't think it was rechromed.

Here's what I did on mine -

I took some very fine grain sandpaper and sanded that fron portion of the saber lightly (using a twisting motion). Then I lightly used some steel wool on it (Same twisting motion). DON'T SAND IT TOO MUCH OR THE BRASS WILL SHOW THROUGH.
THen I took a piece of fabric (try linen, or maybe an old Tshirt) and wrapped it around the saber and gave it a buffing polish using the same twisting action. Hard grip and fast with some nice friction.
THis gives it a very shiny "chrome like" finish.

THis is what the result was like -

The top half of the saber had a high brushed chrome polish, and the lower half had a duller finish.
