Damn right I said it.
I was in a costume shop in Tacoma, Washington; a staple of the theater and wierdo community, when I came upon an item in their clearance section. Ok, it was a clearance box.
It was a Vader costume.......... of such craftsmanship I have never even heard. And I think of so many on this board with mail order items and hunting ebay day by day.....hah. You can gloss the stuff with all the automotive paint and expensive electronic sound systems til the cows come home, and refurbish your Rubies outfits until GT....sorry, the 501st even is pleased with the look. You will never hit upon this masterwork of the artisan without a name.....
That's right. Now you know. You know that with all the plastic and vinyl in the world, there are some things you just can't do. Your eyes do not decieve you
That is a chunk of friggin wood. It was carved out with, I assume, a router into the proper layered effect. It's a perfect facade, ending just at the drape of a cloak, joined with a set of what appear to have been football pads.
And just look at that control box. Reflectors, those long train axle thingies, the switches. Save for the reflectors and lights, all one piece.
Oh this belt means business. The buckle has gone missing but this sucker is ready for any Con. Notice the rust.......I mean weathering on the buttons. Aluminum is for wusses.
Wired and ready. Ohhhhh yeah. A simple on/off switch, classic. The power source is gone, but no matter. Wouldn't take much to get this cherry again.
$15 well spent Someone made this to sell them for a fair amount, and they haven't replaced it with something better yet. I'm hoping to help get their business a little busier with net-hunting help, their costumes are either common store-bought items or sewn by them. Not bad work in most outfits, but a little plastic never hurts
