Vader Lens mounting

Well, Im about ready to post photos of what my helmet looked like before i got it, and now that ive trimmed most of it. Before I finish cutting and start the sanding process, I was wondering, Vaders: how do you mount your lenses? Inside or outside of the mask? Ive seen both but Im not sure which is the way to go, and Id like to know so I can either trim the rest of the eye sockets out or leave them be so I can start trimming the lenses to fit.

I would mount them inside. The look is so much better, and if you want authenticity, that's how the movie helmets were mounted. I've done this with all my helmets.

All the screen masks had them inside. Only the plastic or vinyl Classic Action helmet (and the new Rubies equivalent) uses outside-mounted lenses. :)

Inside.

I have never seem anyone mount them on the outside, do you have a pic of that??

As mentioned the stock DP CA and Rubies lids have the lenses mounted on the outside. On the CA, it's not that noticeable...but on the Rubies it does look really off.

Mounting the lenses on the inside is the accurate method. You may have to slightly shape the inside of the socket with a Dremel or file in order to mate up with the lense surface perfectly.

Might take a bit of filler also to match the sockets perfectly to your new lenses, not too diffcult to do though.

Thanks guys. I wasnt sure if the movie versions were mounted inside or not. Ive seen various pages over the years, and i might have seen some stuff on some yahoo groups where people mounted the lenses to the outside. Ill trim out the rest of the eye sockets then Ill be ready to post pics pre sanding.

Inside. :D

If you need any help along the way there is an abundance of knowledgeable people here who have done their own Vader mods. Good luck. :D

Inside is the best way because you can´t loose them, they fall inside the helmet :lol

In real, inside is the way of mounting...

Mount them from the inside. That way it will scratch your face up if you dont trim the lenses. (If youcan cram your ace up that far into the mask to begin with...)
