t's not a random guy on the internet....as I said, I'm aquainted w/ this individual.[/b]

Yes, but with respect you're also just a random guy on the Internet. Every piece of information from reliable sources indicates this is hogwash.

He works in the industry, and provided a number of pieces for filming.[/b]

Why would this be? LFL makes their props in house. And why would they shoot this thing in unprecedented secrecy only to let this guy blow the whistle by selling the props on eBay? For that matter why let him take them home? Wouldn't they need them to shoot the episodes following this hypothetical pilot? It doesn't make sense.

I think on the RPF of all places it behooves people claiming a pilot has been shot to step up to the plate with, you know, some actual evidence or something. :D

I also know the seller of the Lewis gun and he does work in the industry and cast and provided a number of pieces, including several E-11's,for the pilot. The pilot was ostensibly to gauge the work required and the manner in which they would film.Everyone is,of course, entitled to their view and opinion. This is just mine.I feel it is a legitimate piece. The guy trying to sell "awareness" is within his rights to voice his opinion however the way he is going about it through eBay is wrong. This discussion within this thread is valid and worthy and it is necessary before entering into any deal that you check background and reputation on any given piece.I have spoken to the seller a lot and would tend to be believe him as straight-up.He has worked on many productions.Just my opinion though.
:)

What is the name of his company? That's all we need to get to the bottom of this when Variety and The Hollywood Reporter open back up on Tuesday. He's got nothing to hide, right?

It is not my place to give out the name of his company or his name for that matter.I appreciate that that isn't helpful but I can't overstep my bounds as I consider him a friend. If you feel you need more information and are genuinely interested in the piece and it's history I suggest you send a cordial contact through the ebay listing. He is open to genuine inquiries and has nothing to hide. However be aware that he has already had a lot of abuse over this-unnecessarily in my view.He is a very nice guy in my experience and open to all sincere inquiries.

Yes the Lewis Gun was used in the show. Its a preliminary pilot episode. Things like that are done all the time. It was low budget, one small soundstage that I had seen, in Venice Beach CA. Why you guys here and on other forums do not simply email the seller (me) instead of posting nonsense on boards is beyond me. Same thing as I said in the auction, you dont have to bid. Because you cant find info on the pilot being done, does not mean about 100 people have imagined working on it.

About me dropping off the face of the earth for the past year,
It was part of a verbal agreement with a friend due to work in which I cant speak of. Since its so close to the timeframe time I agreed to not post on open forums, here I am. I wont be back much until the first week of 07. Please, please do not ask me about the pilot episode. Basicly all I can tell you is whats in the auction.

Just so you know, the production had no BFG's of their own, we were contacted on a moments notice to supply them at no cost. It was a favor since we had done work with the powers that be in the past. Many here know about that work, if you dont, go watch some EP3 promo commercials with Burger King, Cingular, Orange UK, Mtv movie awards....

Do you mind giving us the name of your company so we can verify this directly with Lucasfilm? I'm sure many of us would certainly bid on a prop we can independently confirm is authentic.

When someone starts posting "facts" with absolutely no evidence other than "Well, there's this guy..." they're going to be viewed slightly askew until some actual, tangible evidence comes to light. E-mailing the seller of the Vader helmet, for example, resulted in nothing but more lies and ridiculous claims.

Even though the facts appear to be legitimate this time, people are *well* within their rights to be skeptical of seemingly odd or outrageous claims of prop provenance.

I'm getting a little confused here...

There are claims of fraud here, and assertions of authenticity...

But there are also two props being discussed here.

If RobStyle is connected to the Lewis gun, I have no questions whatsoever.

But isn't this thread about this clown trying to sell off his Vader helmet? Can we focus on that since that's what this thread is supposed to be about, and leave the Lewis gun talk out of it...?

Is there any question that this moron selling the Vader helmet is both a slime bucket and a dumb ass.?

Exactly. This Lewis gun is probably deserving of its own thread.

And yes, I think we can all agree about the clown selling the Vader bucket.

No question about that. But then if you're "not a real fan" he "won't sell this to you"..... :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
When I got that response from him last night I swear I chuckled for about an hour. :thumbsup

As a guess in reply to Robstyle, I would have to say 90% of forums are inundated with people who have an innate skepticism, people would rather call BS than ask right off. I am a skeptic, but also direct. If I cared enough to bid on a rubber Lewis, I would most certainly call you on it via email. We all know a pilot WILL be shot, and we all know LFL is notoriously mum on most productions.

I still think the Lewis "weapons" are pretty sweet. As for the Vader helmet....rofl...is all I can muster.

This could easily be a proof of concept pilot and not one intended to air.

Lucas likes to rehearse new technologies before he relies on them in a major project. The Special Editions were a trial run for the new trilogy in terms of testing new technologies and audience interest. Lucas tested new ILM digital effects in Radioland Murders where they wouldn't make or break anything before unleashing them in more primary roles. He shot just a few scenes digitally in EP2 before committing to all-digital output in EP3. This sort of action is par for the course.

Lucas doesn't need a pilot to sell this show to the nets. If he is making one, it's to prove it is possible to achieve a certain level of quality within a certain budget. It probably doesn't even feature any actors that will ultimately star in the show, unless a stand-in grows on the producers like Harrison Ford did.

If RobStyle says it's legit, then as far as I'm concerned it's 100% legit. No question in my mind either. He's as reliable a source as the RPF can offer without being a LFL employee.

This "original" Vader helmet guy sure can take a good photo. That has to be THE most flattering picture of the DP standard I have ever seen. :lol

...it almost looks ROTS-ish, doesn't it?

I sent him a message via ebay asking what proof he offers.

Believe it or not, he responded. Here's his reply (playing the same tune):

"the only proof that i got is that i worked in the crew of the film if you belive or not is not my problem tanks for ask"

So I sent him this in reply:

"If it is NOT genuine and you complete the transaction, you are quite possibly in transgression of a federal offense, which would be YOUR problem. Just a reminder for your benefit..."

I asked him what the history was behind this helmet, and he sent me this, :lol

Another one mentioning Pinewood Studios. Hmm... guess he looked into that "you know what" auction and gleaned his info from that. :)

Continued dialogue, in response to my last message to him (see above):

"ok but i know that is it an original itemm because i was in the plate and i saw when the pearson that give to my brother in law the helmet but i dont know what to do for obtein an cerrificate or something do you know how can i do that"
